Shakhriza Khalilova returned to the sport in the Kyrgyz Elite National Championships and advanced to the finals

The twenty semi-final contests were held on the fourth competition day at the Elite National Boxing Championships of the Kyrgyz Republic in Bishkek. Kyrgyzstan’s returning female boxer Shakhriza Khalilova secured her place in the semi-finals when Puchnin and Mamanov caused the biggest sensations with their successes.

Kyrgyzstan’s Elite National Boxing Championships will be a selection tournament for the World Olympic Boxing Qualification Event which is scheduled to be held on June 2021. The Kyrgyz Boxing Federation arranged live online coverage during the event and the venue of the National Championships is also excellent in Bishkek.

The number of the participants is 120 including eight girls and fourteen champions will be crowned in the Kyrgyz National Championships in the end of the week. The most popular category is the welterweight (69kg) where 18 boxers are fighting for the medals but the light welterweight (63kg) have got also tough battles.

Returning Shakhriza Khalilova advanced to the finals of the women’s featherweight (57kg)

Shakhriza Khalilova represented Kyrgyzstan in a few international competitions and the Bishkek-based boxer decided to return to national events after a few years of break. The experienced Kyrgyz girl was too strong for Batken region’s Aygul Abduvakhid Kyzy in the semi-finals of the women’s featherweight (57kg). Khalilova will be meeting for the gold medal with Osh region’s Zukhra Kurmanayeva.

Experienced boxers as Turkbay Uulu and Usenaliev secured their places in the finals

ASBC Asian Boxing Championships bronze medallist Mirlan Turkbay Uulu eliminated 12-years-younger Anvar Khodzhiyev in the semi-finals of the light flyweight (49kg) and will be meeting for the gold medal against Issyk-Kul region’s Asylbek Amankul Uulu. ASBC Asian Champion and Asian Games bronze medallist Azat Usenaliev dominated his previous national events in the recent 10 years therefore he defeated Islam Marov easily and will have only one further step to win the flyweight (52kg) against Nurzhigit Duishebayev.

Surprises at the light welterweight (63kg) and at the welterweight (69kg)

Bishkek’s 19-year-old Ryspek Bektenov claimed silver medal in the Elite National Championships one year ago and he won all of his contests in 2020 therefore his loss to Dmitriy Puchnin of Issyk-Kul region was a surprise at the light welterweight (63kg). The 21-year-old Puchnin will be meeting for the gold medal with 19-year-old Sultan Asankul Uulu. Osh region’s 19-year-old Omurbek Mamanov caused the biggest sensation of the semi-finals when he eliminated ASBC Asian Youth Champion Nuradin Rustambek Uulu and remained his gold medal chances alive against Syrgak Abdyzhapar Uulu.

The favorites advanced to the finals at the middleweight (75kg) and light heavyweight (81kg)

Bishkek’s Omurbek Bekzhigit Uulu is only 20 but he has more than 20 contests already with the national team and continued his winning path against Daniyar Damirdin Uulu. The young boxer will be meeting for the gold medal of the middleweight (75kg) with Osh’s Zharkynbek Turatov. Rio 2016 Olympian Erkin Adylbek Uulu had already more than 230 contests during his career therefore he was too experienced to Aidar Azamat Uulu and will be meeting for the gold medal of the light heavyweight (81kg) against a teenage hope, Bakyt Toktosun Uulu.
