Titleholder Samandar Kholmurodov leads the Uzbek squad in the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships

The next edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships will be starting in Bangkok on April 21 and the Uzbek team is ready to continue their winning series in Thailand. Uzbekistan’s 15-strong youth team contains several gold medal contenders including titleholder Samandar Kholmurodov, Abdumalik Khalokov, Halimbek Utegenov, Jakhongir Rakhmonov and Navo Tamazov.
Uzbekistan claimed three gold medals in the 2016 edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships in Pavlodar and their boxers won five titles in the Bangkok 2017 ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships. Their strong performance one year ago was enough to rank as No.1 in the competition.
Samandar Kholmurodov won the gold medal in the strongest youth competition of the world, the Pavlyukov Youth Memorial Tournament in Anapa, Russia one year ago and claimed gold also in the Bangkok 2017 ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships. The titleholder will be there once again in the event but this time he will be boxing at the flyweight (52kg) in Bangkok.
Abdumalik Khalokov joined to the youth age group as Kholmurodov in January 2017 and had the same route as his teammate. He won the 2017 Uzbek Youth National Games achieved silver medal in the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships in Bangkok last July. The 17-year-old boxer moved up to the bantamweight (56kg) and he is among the favourites once again.
Jakhongir Rakhmonov achieved silver medal in the 2015 ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships and since then he won several international competitions. Rakhmonov, who moved up to the welterweight (69kg), did a great sensation in the last Uzbek Youth National Championships where he defeated their star AIBA Junior World Champion Bilolbek Mirzarakhimov in the final.
AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Halimbek Utegenov (64kg) has been competing in the international events since 2014 and has got enough experiences to beat all of his rivals in Bangkok. Aytenov Brothers Youth Tournament winner Sadirbek Kamolmirzayev (49kg), ASBC Asian Junior Champion Javlonbek Yuldashev (60kg), and Tashkent region’s two-time Junior National Champion Navo Tamazov (75kg) are also among the favourites in Bangkok.
Khorezm’s Bekzat Sattarkhanov Youth Memorial Tournament bronze medallist Jamshid Khudayberganov (81kg), Dzhizak’s Agalarov Youth Memorial Tournament silver medallist Javokhir Togaymurodov (91kg) and Ferghana’s Timur Atabayev (+91kg) are also member of the travelling Uzbek men squads.
Among their women team members Khursandoy Kholmatova (51kg), Maftuna Fayzullayeva (54kg) and Makhliyo Rakhimova (60kg) competed at the Guwahati 2017 AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships. Nasiba Khairullayeva (57kg) and Navbakhor Khamidova (75kg) are newcomers in the national team and moved up from the junior age group in January.
