Thirteen new heroes won the titles in the Jordan Junior National Championships

Following the Jordan Schoolboys National Boxing Championships their Junior National Championships was the next activity in the Western Asian country. The annual Jordan Junior National Championships was held in Amman where 13 champions celebrated their titles after the finals. Such strong talents as Abdallah Ahmad, Ali Galeb, Hamzeh Bani Yaseen, Hashem Al-Awneh and Mohammad Arabiat won gold medals.
Boxers who were born in 2003 or in 2004 were eligible to attend in the Jordan Junior National Championships. The event was a selection and a preparation event before the start of the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships which will be held in the United Arab Emirates this October.
Altogether 109 boxers attended in the Jordan Junior National Championships and 96 bouts were in the official program of the sessions. Jordan sent three boxers to the last edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships but their management is planning to compete with more athletes in the UAE.
The Jordan Junior National Championships was held in 13 different weight classes from the pinweight (46kg) up to the heavyweight (+80kg) and delivered several tough battles between these young talents. All regions of the Kingdom sent boxers to the Jordan Junior National Championships which made the event into a unique one.
The first gold medal in the event was achieved by Yazn Abdallah who was slightly better than Zarqa’s Zaid Faisal in the final of the pinweight (46kg). The second gold medal was taken by Abdallah Ahmad who defeated Abdalrahman Tareq in the final of the light flyweight (48kg) where he had clear dominancy over his rivals.
Ali Galeb claimed already bronze medal at the pinweight (46kg) in the 2017 Jordan Junior National Championships and since then he moved up to the bantamweight (54kg). Following a few years of experiences in our sport he arrived to the top of the podium in the new edition after beating Souhaib Ali Aboujoudeh in the final.
The lightweight (60kg) was the most popular category with the participation of 16 boxers which means the finalists have to box four-times during their road to the title contests in the Junior National Championships. Hamzeh Bani Yaseen eliminated a dangerous rival Al-Baqaa’s Mahdi Darweesh in the semi-final before winning the final of this difficult category against Nadeem Ashraf.
Hashem Al-Awneh also impressed in the fourth day of boxing in the final of the light welterweight (63kg) and defeated Eslam Mohammad. Mohammad Arabiat trained strongly to be the best at the welterweight (66kg) and he was able to take the gold of the category after beating Ahmad Galeb in the final. Zarqa’s Othman Bilal (70kg), Yazeed Al-Dalgamony (80kg) and Deya Alaraj (+80kg) also won their weight classes and proved they are ready to compete internationally in 2019.
