Thirteen champions crowned in the Mamazhanov & Taraday Youth Memorial Tournament in Zhezkazgan

Thirteen champions have been crowned in the 25th edition of the Asylbek Mamazhanov & Viktor Taraday Youth Memorial Tournament in Kazakhstan. The Akim of Zhezkazgan city and the Development Sport Centre of Zhezkazgan region were the organizers of the tournament which was held for the youth boxers.
The competition was held in the city of Zhezkazgan which is located in the Karagandy region in Central Kazakhstan. Boxers who were born in 1999 and 2000 were eligible to compete in the Mamazhanov & Taraday Memorial Tournament while the women boxers also could take part in the 25th edition in Zhezkazgan.
Aizhan Madibek of Taraz won the first gold medal of the women’s tournament in Zhezkazgan who was too strong to Aynura Zhakenova in the semi-final and Akbota Tangatar in the final of the Women’s Light Flyweight class (48kg). The 16-year-old Madibek was quarter-finalist in the Nations Women’s Cup in Serbia in the beginning of the year and her experiences in the international level were useful in the Mamazhanov & Taraday Memorial Tournament.
Almaty’s strong national team member Zhazira Urakbayeva has been boxing in the international and national level since 2013 and she was able to win the second gold medal in the tournament in Zhezkazgan. The 17-year-old boxer was too quick and experienced for Kamila Alizhanova in the final of the Flyweight class (51kg).
Karagandy region’s Golden Gloves of Vojvodina Women’s Youth Tournament winner 17-year-old Akniyet Abdigozha received the Best technique Award of the Mamazhanov & Taraday Youth Memorial Tournament in Zhezkazgan following her three impressive triumphs. She defeated Zhaina Zhabykbay, Aigerim Mambetova and finally Zhansaya Asherbekova in the tournament.
The first gold medal in the men’s tournament was achieved by Kazakh Junior National Championships silver medallist Timur Kabdeshov from the Akmola region who defeated Adil Isainov at the Pinweight class (46kg). The 16-year-old winner of the category moved up from the 44kg weight class in the recent months and proved he could be Kazakhstan’s next future hope in the upcoming years.
Dildabekov Prizes Junior Tournament bronze medallist Yelaman Butembayev trains in Astana and arrived to Zhezkazgan as one of the favourite of the Light Flyweight class 849kg). He is one year older than his final opponent current Kazakh Junior National Champion Bekzat Makzhan and his speed was enough to win their close gold medal bout which was one of the best in the Mamazhanov & Taraday Youth Memorial Tournament.
Zhezkazgan’s first gold medal was acquired by Zhetpisbay Tolepbergen who was too strong for Kazakhstan’s former Schoolboys National Champion 17-year-old Gaziz Babakhan in the final of the Flyweight class (52kg). Zhezkazgan’s second gold medal in the event was delivered by Agalarov Youth Memorial Tournament silver medallist Nurbol Sultanbay who defeated Murat Turmanbetov in the final of the Light Welterweight class (64kg).
Zhomart Dostenov arrived to the Mamazhanov & Taraday Youth Memorial Tournament from the city of Petropavlovsk which is not so famous of its boxing life in Kazakhstan but the 17-year-old talent was able to win the gold medal of the Bantamweight class (56kg) after beating Kanysh Kanat in the final bout.
Akmola region’s Talgat Shaykenov defeated his main rival Serik Sapiyev Prizes Youth Tournament bronze medallist Temirlan Konirbay in the semi-final of the Lightweight class (60kg) and after that key contest he controlled his final fight against Parviz Abdulla. Despite of his loss in the semi-final Temirlan Konirbay of Zhezkazgan received a nomination from the LOC, the Will-to-win spirit.
Almaty’s Maksat Kobetay competed well enough in the Khayrutdinov Youth Tournament in Almaty and in the Serik Sapiyev Prizes Youth Tournament in Karagandy but in Zhezkazgan he delivered his best ever performance. The 17-year-old boxer triumphed over Akmola region’s Adil Shaykenov in the final of the Welterweight class (69kg).
Karagandy’s Argynkazy Kokambay was able to win the Middleweight class (75kg) in Zhezkazgan while Astana’s second title was achieved by Mukhtarkhan Anarbay at the Light Heavyweight class (81kg). Turkestan’s Bekzat Sattarkhanov Youth Memorial Tournament winner Yerassyl Ziyada had enough experiences to beat Askhat Baydosov in the final of the Heavyweight class (91kg) in Zhezkazgan.
