The youth review of the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships – Historical gold medal for Jordan

The 25 youth finals were held in the last competition day of the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in Amman, Jordan. Following the exciting junior finals, 25 youth champions crowned in Jordan’s capital on the twelfth competition day.

Boxers who were born in 2004 and 2005 were eligible to attend in the youth part of the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in Amman. Twelve female and thirteen male boxers earned their titles in the youth part of the competition. These talents can show their skills at the IBA Youth World Boxing Championships later this year.

Altogether 355 boxers from 21 nations attended in the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in Amman. Among them 180 athletes competed in the youth age group in the championship which was progress in comparison to the last Dubai 2021 edition. Altogether 58 female youth boxers and 122 male athletes competed for the 25 available titles. The men’s youth bantamweight (54kg) was the most crowded category with the participation of 16 athletes in Amman.

India, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan won the youth titles in the last competition day in Amman. The Uzbeks earned nine gold medals in the youth part of the championships while the Kazakhs and the Indians both won seven weight categories in Jordan’s capital city which hosted an ASBC Asian Boxing Championships after 2013.

Finally, India, Iran, Iraq, host Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Syria, Tajikistan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Yemen sent their best talents to the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships.

Uzbekistan’s new sensation in their women’s team is Saidakhon Rakhmonova shocked her final opponent, India’s Nivedita Karki in the first round when the Uzbek knocked down her. The Indian boxer found her best rhythm in the second round and following that shocking moment, she was able to turn back their final contest in Amman earning the first gold medal. India’s next finalist in Amman was Tamanna who earned the second title of the event following her coach’s, Mrs. Amanpreet Kaur’s strategy.

Kazakhstan’s new No.1, Viktoriya Baidukova won the Dubai 2021 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and the Commonwealth of Independent States Junior Games in the recent seven months and won her first big youth title in Amman. Kazakhstan’s ASBC Asian Junior Champion Ulzhan Sarsenbek won the next title for the Central Asian boxing power after beating Thailand’s Natnicha Chongprongklang at the featherweight (57kg).

Uzbekistan’s defending ASBC Asian Youth Champion and Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Champion Aziza Zokirova is their nation’s best female talent who follows her brother’s Jakhongir’s footsteps. The Uzbek boxer arrived to Amman to achieve her second youth gold medal after the Dubai 2021 edition and she succeeded against Kazakhstan’s Gaukhar Shaybekova at the light middleweight (70kg).

India’s ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships silver medallist Vishvanath Suresh achieved gold in Fujairah two and half years ago and she earned the first male title in Amman after beating Kyrgyzstan’s Bekzat Ergeshov at the minimumweight (48kg). His compatriot, Vanshaj was too strong for his opponents and earned a gold medal at the light welterweight (63.5kg) in Amman.

Uzbekistan’s Youth National Champion Khujanazar Nortojiyev amazed in the recent competitions at the flyweight (51kg) and achieved his next title in Amman. Uzbekistan’s new sensation, Bakhtiyor Asadov defeated his main rivals as Kazakhstan’s ASBC Asian Junior Champion Bakhtiyar Anarbayev and Kyrgyzstan’s second finalist, Akzhol Asylbek Uulu with superb performance in Amman.

Tajikistan’s best youth boxer Abdurakhim Yokubov was gold medallist at the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships but he was not able to get his second Asian title following his narrow loss to Kyrgyzstan’s Almaz Orozbekov in the final of the lightweight (60kg). The 16-year-old Kyrgyz boy is their second ASBC Asian Youth Champion after Nuradin Rustambek Uulu’s first title in 2019.

Uzbekistan’s Fazliddin Erkinboyev achieved gold medal at the Dubai 2021 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and bagged his next Asian title as a youth boxer. Another star, Kazakhstan’s Temirlan Mukatayev was the defending ASBC Asian Youth Champion at the new cruiserweight (86kg) and he remained on the top of the podium following his RSC triumphs in Amman.

Jordan’ Saif Al-Rawashdeh was the host nation’s lone youth finalist in Amman and the super heavyweight (+92kg) boxer succeeded against Kyrgyzstan’s younger Zhoodarbek Saparbekov and India’s Aman Singh Bisht in the front of the home crowd. Al-Rawashdeh became the first boxer from Jordan who earned an ASBC Asian Youth title.
