The upcoming Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament has been postponed due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus

Thailand Boxing Association and the Asian Boxing Confederation inform all National Federations with the deepest regret that the new edition of the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament which is scheduled on April 1-10 in the official boxing calendar, will be postponed until further notice and negotiations.

The Thailand Boxing Association consulted with the Ministry of Health of Thailand about the current situation of the Covid-19 Coronavirus which spread across the globe in the recent months. The Ministry of Health and Thailand has got strict screening processes and may it will be caused complications and quarantines for the National Federations and the participating teams.

The next edition of the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament was planning to be held in five women and six men weight classes in Pattaya which is famous of its holiday resorts. The Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament were planned to be held three weeks after the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualification event in the beginning of April.

The previous editions were all held in Bangkok but due the postponement of the event the Thailand Open Boxing Tournament won’t be a preparation competition for the World Olympic Qualification Event which is scheduled to be held in Paris, France on May 12-22.  

The new date of the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament will be decided until the situation of the Coronavirus is contained. Thailand Boxing Association will try to find a new date for the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament in the busy calendar of 2020.
