The Oralbay twin brothers shined in the semi-finals of the Cologne Boxing World Cup

The outstanding semi-finals were held in the second competition day at the Cologne Boxing World Cup in the city of Köln today. Eight Kazakh boxers attend in the German international tournament and among them six advanced to the finals. The Oralbay twin brothers amazed with their fighting spirit and both remained their chance alive to win the event.

Germany’s top international event has been re-scheduled twice last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic and postponed to December 2020. The new edition is scheduled to be hosted in Cologne in March 10-14 and will be supporting the preparations of the boxers. The name of the event was known as Chemistry Cup in the previous decades and has got the tradition and bright boxing history with many stars on the board.

Kazakhstan’s AIBA World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Saken Bibossynov amazed in the quarter-finals of the Cologne Boxing World Cup. The 23-year-old boxer walked over to the final of the flyweight (52kg) where he will be meeting with another AIBA World Boxing Championships bronze medallist boxer, France’s Billal Bennama. Kamshybek Kunkabayev walked over and also joined to the finals at the super heavyweight (+91kg).

Kazakhstan’s Budapest 2018 AIBA Youth World Champion Nurbek Oralbay moved up to the light heavyweight (81kg) in the recent one and half year. The 20-year-old Kazakh is now the No.2 in his homeland behind AIBA World Champion Bekzad Nurdauletov but he has the future in this weight category. Oralbay tried to keep Germany’s Ben Ehis on long in the first round and stopped the host nation’s attacking boxer with jabs therefore he can meet for the gold with Brazil’s Youth Olympic Games winner Keno Marley Machado.

Nurbek’s twin brother, Youth Olympic Games gold medallist Aibek Oralbay had a much different level opponent, Germany’s Ammar Abduljabbar who claimed bronze medals in the recent two editions of the Cologne Boxing World Cup. The German, who attended in the last AIBA World Boxing Championships, was a tough opponent in the first round but Oralbay increased his tempo. Abduljabbar was too tired in the second part of the bout therefore the Kazakh youngster will be facing for the gold with Brazil’s Abner Junior.

Kazakhstan’s National Championships silver medallist Orazbek Assylkulov won his first contest on Day1 and he continued his winning path in the semi-finals of the Cologne Boxing World Cup. His opponent was Bosnia & Herzegovina’s Alen Rahimic who lives and trains in Germany and competed several international events in the recent years. Assylkulov landed the stronger punches and he had several excellent combinations in the contest which means he can box for the gold of the featherweight (57kg) with France’s Tokyo Olympian powerful Samuel Kistohurry. Yertugan Zeinulinov surprisingly won the title of the lightweight (63kg) at the 2020 Kazakhstan National Championships last November. The 24-year-old boxer ruled the middle of the ring against IOC Refugee Team’s Wessam Salamana who claimed bronze medal at the 2010 Asian Games representing Syria. Zeinulinov worked from close distance, he moved a lot to keep the control against the ex-Syrian veteran in Cologne. The younger Kazakh worked through all of the three rounds and he also advanced to the final of the event where Brazil’s promising Wanderson Oliveira is waiting for him.
