The Official Draw of the 13th South Asian Games confirmed 73 boxers are attending in Kathmandu

The Official Draw of the 13th edition of the South Asian Games was held in the capital city of Nepal in Kathmandu today evening. Altogether 24 female and 49 male boxers will be attending for the titles in the multisport event in Kathmandu where India’s Manish Kaushik is the biggest name in the competition.

Nepal hosted the South Asian Games in Kathmandu in 1999 and after 20 years of break the event returned to their capital city. The host country claimed one gold medal in the 1999 edition of the South Asian Games and their boxers are planning to make that surprise once again following their hard preparation.

The boxing tournament of the 13th edition of the South Asian Games will be starting on December 6 while the finals are scheduled to take place on December 9. India is the boxing power in the South Asian region and some of their stars are involved to attend in the Games, but Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, host Nepal and Bangladesh also have experienced hopes.

The boxing tournament of the South Asian Games is scheduled in six female categories as follows: light flyweight (48kg), flyweight (51kg), bantamweight (54kg), featherweight (57kg), lightweight (60kg) and light welterweight (64kg).

The male part of the boxing event of the South Asian Games will be held ten men’s weight classes in Kathmandu: light flyweight (49kg), flyweight (52kg), bantamweight (56kg), lightweight (60kg), light welterweight (64kg), welterweight (69kg), middleweight (75kg), light heavyweight (81kg), heavyweight (91kg) and super heavyweight (+91kg).

India’s biggest name in their team at the South Asian Games is AIBA World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Manish Kaushik who will be starting his campaign with Pakistan’s experienced Suleman Baloch at the light welterweight (64kg). One of the best Nepali hopes Sushil Thapa Magar will be facing as first with Sri Lanka’s Sajeewa Nuwan at the men’s light flyweight (49kg).
