The Iraqi Elite Clubs National Championships is underway in the promising country

The Iraqi Elite Clubs National Championships is underway in Baghdad where around 25-30 contests are on the schedule in the daily programs.

The re-elected President of the Iraqi Boxing Federation, the well-known ASBC official, Mr. Ali Takleef is following all of the bouts in the event. The Secretary General of the Federation, Mr. Ali Abdulzahra Jawad arranged all of the organisational parts of the Iraqi Elite Clubs National Championships. The doctor of the national competition is the ITO of the country, Mr. Abdulnasser Jasim who worked in previous ASBC Championships.

The management of the Iraqi Boxing sent their boxers to all of the ASBC Boxing Championships in 2022 and the country is ready to earn more medals this year. Iraq has the potential to reach the level of the top Asian countries in the future and the country has more regional and national competitions than in the past.

Nasiriya, the city of Kirkuk, the Tigris BC, Alhashid Sport, the Army Boxing Club, Mahawil, Altamadun, Alfalahia, Almadena, Aliaat Police, Dhiqar, Brayati, Kufa, Baladruz, Alraafidayn, the Twenty Revolution BC, Alaleizuh, Ninawy, Youth Iraq BC and many others teams are among the participating clubs in this national event.

The light welterweight (63.5kg) is a strong category in the Elite Clubs National Championships where Army’s Ali Qassim and Hassan Adnan both won their quarter-final bouts with excellent performance.

The 19-year-old Karrar Hayder Ismael is a super talented boxer who moved up to the light middleweight (71kg) but he had the potential to beat Abdallah Ali of Kirkuk in the quarter-final stage of the Elite Clubs National Championships.

Tariq Zaidoun controlled most of the national events at the super heavyweight (+92kg) in the previous years and the Army boxer stopped his quarter-final opponent, Zaid Rashad. Police’s Baqer Amir and a young talent, Hussein Imad both advanced to the last four in the heaviest weight class. The Iraqi Elite Clubs National Championships is part of their preparations and selections for the upcoming Hangzhou 2023 Asian Games which will be the first Olympic Qualifier for Paris 2024 in the continent.
