The India Big Bout Boxing League produced amazing media interest

The first edition of the India Big Bout Boxing League was held in December 2019 which became an amazing success for the boxers and also for Boxing Federation of India. The Big Bout was the most viewed league after the Indian Premier League ahead of tough and popular sports in India. Boxing Federation of India is ready to continue the developments of their innovations and to increase the potential of the League.

“The boxers will continue to benefit from the league. The league has been a major source of financial stability of our boxers as well as the entire ecosystem of technical officials, coaches and referees. The first-year numbers show how commercially attractive the league can be and I believe we have huge untapped potential. The Big Bout delivered seven-times higher ratings than live Pro Kabaddi matches in the Hindi-speaking markets,” said the President of the Boxing Federation of India Mr. Ajay Singh.

The Big Bout was the official name of the Indian Boxing League which became the new program of the Boxing Federation of India. The competition had similar form as the previous World Series of Boxing which was one of the last important Asian events in the busy year of 2019 just ahead of the Olympic Qualifiers.

Boxing Federation of India covered all costs for the boxers including flight tickets, accommodation, meals and local transportation, furthermore strong money prizes for the boxers. The competition period of the League was from December 2 until December 21 which was open for top foreign boxers as well including such stars as Uzbekistan’s Youth Olympic Games winner Abdumalik Khalokov, Colombia’s Rio 2016 Olympic Games bronze medallist Ingrit Valencia and many others from various continents.

The Gujarat Giants was the best franchise in the Group Stage of the Indian Big Bout Boxing League and their boxers have done an amazing job also in the Knockout part of the first Season. Their final opponent the Punjab Panthers started the match better but Gujarat Giants returned twice after the dangerous moments and won their encounter 4-3 becoming the first champion of the Big Bout Boxing League. The top Indian boxers can train online with coaching, nutrition and mental guidance during the lockdown of the country and all of them are ready to return in the international stage and show their huge potentials after the Covid-19 situation.
