The historical city of Samarkand topped the medal standings at the Uzbekistan Schoolgirls National Championships

Uzbekistan Boxing Federation arranged its first ever Schoolgirls National Championships which was a new milestone in their female boxing life. The city of Samarkand impressed in the Schoolgirls National Championships, their Farangiz Karshiyeva, Bakhora Abduraimova, Sevara Mamatova and Sabina Rajabova claimed four gold medals.

The city of Karshi was the host of the historical first edition of the Schoolgirls National Championships. The city is the capital of the Kashkadarya region in the southern part of the country and the distance is 520km from capital Tashkent.

Young girls who were born in 2007 and in 2008 were eligible to attend in the Uzbekistan Schoolgirls National Championships in Karshi. Altogether 129 young talents from their 13 and 14-year-old age groups attended in the Uzbekistan Schoolgirls National Championships.

All of the Uzbek regions and cities sent their best schoolgirls to the first edition which was selection also for the upcoming ASBC Asian Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Championships. The national schoolgirl event was held in 14 different weight categories: 35kg, 37kg, 40kg, 43kg, 46kg, 49kg, 52kg, 55kg, 58kg, 61kg, 64kg, 67kg, 70kg and +70kg.

The first gold medal of the Schoolgirls National Championships was achieved by Samarkand’s Farangiz Karshiyeva who stopped all of her opponents including Tashkent region’s Zarina Altinbekova at the 35kg. Jasmina Khudoyberdiyeva of Bukhara defeated Ugilshod Davlatova of Surkhondarya region in the second final of the national event.

Bakhora Abduraimova had to beat four rivals to take the title of the 40kg weight class but the Samarkand-based boxer accomplished that mission and defeated also Ismigul Komilova of Ferghana in the final. Sayyora Uralova was also busy in the national event, she had four contests and defeated her main rival Marzhona Kamoliddinova already in the semi-finals and she continued the winning path against Dinora Atakhanova in the final.

Ferghana’s first title in the national event was taken by Shakhina Azimova who surprisingly defeated Zabiniso Jurabayeva of Namangan in the quarter-finals and Zukhra Taskinbayeva was also not able to stop her in the final. Sixteen boxers attended at the 49kg weight class in Karshi which category was won by Samarkand’s Sevara Mamatova after stopping Muslima Turgunova of Ferghana in the final.

Dzhizak Boxing School produced excellent women boxers for Uzbekistan in the recent years and their first winner in the Schoolgirls National Championships was Saida Sobirova at the 52kg weight class who defeated Zukhro Rustamova of Navoy in the final. Namangan’s Marzhona Turayeva had tough battles in the final stages of the 55kg weight category but she defeated Robiya Bakhtiyorova and Ayzada Niyetbayeva of Kashkadarya region.

Khadijabonu Bekova of Surkhondarya region has got strong family connections to boxing and she won the next title in Karshi after beating Samarkand’s Umida Shamsiyeva at the 58kg. Tashkent region’s first success was achieved by Asal Dosjonova who triumphed over Surayyo Sobirova of Andizhan at the 61kg weight category.

Bukhara’s Maftuna Yangiyeva defeated all of her opponents by RSC in the national event including Rukhshona Shakarova of Samarkand in the battle of the historical cities. Kashkadarya region’s Janerke Abdalova represented the host city in the national event and earned the title of the 67kg weight class after beating Sarvinoz Kobiljonova in the final.

Samarkand’s next finalist Sabina Rajabova impressed at the 70kg weight category, she had a quick success in the title bout against Bibisora Akramova of Ferghana. Andizhan’s Sobirakhon Shakhobiddinova claimed the last title of the Schoolgirls National Championships in Karshi where she outpointed Rukhshona Parpiyeva of Namangan in the final of the +70kg weight division.
