The AIBA Extraordinary Congress is postponed to December 2020

The AIBA Extraordinary Congress has got a new date after the voting of the AIBA Executive Committee members. The AIBA Extraordinary Congress is scheduled to take place on December 12 and 13 in 2020 while its venue did not change, it will be held in Hungary’s capital in Budapest.

The original date of the AIBA Extraordinary Congress was March 20 in Budapest which was postponed to June 20 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The second date in June is also too early for the International Boxing Association and for the National Federations therefore the Congress was re-scheduled once again to December. All of the officials hope that the Covid-19 health situation will be getting better until the end of the year.

Budapest hosted the 2018 edition of the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships which was the first event for that age group for both genders. The Asian boxers especially from Thailand, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, India, Philippines and Jordan shined in that competition nearly two years ago.
