The Afghanistan Elite National Championships is underway in Kabul with more than 280 boxers

The Afghanistan National Championships started for the men’s elite boxers in their capital city in Kabul which will be a longer competition due to the high number of boxers. Kabul welcomes all of the best boxers of the provinces of the country in their Afghanistan National Championships which is a selection event for them for the international tournaments.

All of the provinces had selection events before the Afghanistan National Championships and only the best boxers of the weight classes can attend in Kabul. Following the pre-selections, more than 280 elite boxers received the right to attend in the new edition of the Afghanistan National Championships which is holding after the 2nd edition of the Shaheed Hameedullah Hameedi Memorial Tournament.

The President of the Afghanistan Boxing Federation Mr. Abdullah Sattari is also watching all of the bouts to follow the developments of their elite boxers. The Secretary General of the Afghanistan Boxing Federation Mr. Waheedullah Hameedi is the engine of the National Championships and has done all necessary arrangements to realize the event in top level.

This is the first ever Afghanistan National Championships which is live streamed by the Afghanistan Boxing Federation from the opening competition day. All of the stakeholders and followers can watch the sessions and bouts in the official Facebook page of the Afghanistan Boxing Federation.

Mohammad Khaibar Nooristani is the most experienced Afghan boxer in all levels of boxing who has been serving the country’s boxing life since 2008. He competed in a few editions of the ASBC Asian Boxing Championships, Asian Games, South Asian Games and AIBA World Boxing Championships during his career. Nooristani is 34-year-old now but he has got still motivation and future goals in our sport therefore he started his campaign in the National Championships with an easy success.

Ramish Rahmani claimed silver medal in the Indonesian President’s Cup and reached the quarter-finals at the Bangkok 2019 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships last year. The young Afghan is one of their most technician fighters who is the top favourite for the gold medal at the flyweight (52kg) in the National Championships. He attended also in the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event and he is aiming for a quota in the World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event.
