The 43 best elite Indian male boxers have been invited to a training camp to Bellary

The Indian elite male national boxing team trains in a new location in Bellary which is a major city in the state of Karnataka. Altogether 43 elite men boxers have been invited to the new national training camp to prepare well to the next international events. All of the best Indian boxers are in the training camp in Bellary including their five Olympic quota holders.

The preparations will be held until the 15th of February to reach the top shape of the boxers in Bellary which is 500m above the sea level. The management of the Boxing Federation of India is planning to send their teams to the upcoming Strandja Memorial Tournament, Boxam Tournament, Bosphorus International Boxing Tournament and to the Gee Bee Tournament to arrange a new European tour before the World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event.

India earned altogether impressive nine quota places for the Tokyo Olympic Games through the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event which was held in Amman, Jordan on March 2020. Four girls including six-time AIBA Women’s World Champion Chungneijang Mary Kom Hmangte and five strong boys qualified for the Olympic Games in Amman.

The head coach of the Indian men’s national team Argentinean-Swedish Mr. Santiago Nieva, furthermore his assistant trainers scheduled the training program of their top boys. Asian Games winner and AIBA World Boxing Championships silver medallist Amit Panghal is the biggest name in their male squad who qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games in Amman where he bagged bronze medal.

Commonwealth Games winner Gaurav Solanki was in good shape at the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in Amman but he was not able to qualify for the Games yet. His top national rivals at the featherweight (57kg) such as Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Mohammed Hussamuddin, AIBA Youth World Champion Sachin Siwach Singh, AIBA World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Gaurav Bidhuri and Kavinder Singh Bisht were also invited to the training camp.

AIBA World Boxing Championships bronze medallist and two-time Olympian Vikas Krishan Yadav returned to the national team and prepares to his third Olympic Games. Manish Kaushik (63kg), former ASBC Asian Champion Shiva Thapa (63kg), ASBC Asian Boxing Championships silver medallist Ashish Kumar (75kg), Naman Tanwar (91kg) and Tokyo Olympian Satish Kumar (+91kg) are also in the training camp in Bellary.
