Thailand will be hosting its National Championships in Muak Lek on November 16-22 while the Thailand Open is under planning

Thailand Boxing Association had further meetings in the recent days about their upcoming planning projects and activities. Their management decided to arrange the National Elite Boxing Championships in the Muak Lek District which will be holding for the women and men boxers in November 16-22.

Following their National Elite Boxing Championships, Thailand Boxing Association is planning to host an international event. The Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament is one of the top competitions worldwide which has been originally planned to host on April but due to the Covid-19 situation the local organizers had to postpone the event.

Thailand Boxing Association negotiates with the national sport authorities and the local government to host the next edition of the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament still in 2020 before the end of the year. Thailand has been opening its borders step by step and the management of the Thailand Boxing Association including ASBC Vice-President Mr. Chaiwat Chotima try to find the best option to arrange the event in 2020.

Thailand hosted the last edition of the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Bangkok on April 2019 while their Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament was held on July 2019. More than 30 nations attended in each of the last two editions of the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament in 2018 and in 2019.

The country secured already four quota places for the Tokyo Olympic Games which were taken by their two veterans as AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships silver medallist Sudaporn Seesondee and Chatchai Decha Butdee, furthermore two teenagers. AIBA Youth World Champion Thitisan Panmod amazed all of the experts with his strong developments at the flyweight (52kg) while ASBC Asian Women’s Youth Champion 18-year-old Baison Manikon also bagged a quota place in Amman for the Olympics.

Thailand’s elite national teams train in their National Sports Training Centre in Saraburi with full speed to these upcoming events. Altogether 34 boxers including 14 elite girls and 20 males are involved to the training camp with the support of 16 coaches which makes the possibility to arrange individual and special preparations for the athletes. All of the equipment, medical, psychological, mental, and dietetic supports are available for the boxers in Saraburi.
