Strong Kyrgyz and Italian start in the 20th Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament in Kostanay

The 20th edition of the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament started in Kostanay, Kazakhstan which is a parallel competition with the 7th Republic of Kazakhstan President’s Cup. The flyweight (52kg) and the light welterweight (64kg) are the most crowded categories in the event where Kyrgyzstan and Italy both started strongly on Day1.
The Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament is an important preparation event before the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships which is scheduled to be held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia this November. Altogether 105 boxers have been there in the general weigh-in and will be boxing for the medals and prizes.
This strong men’s youth competition was named by Ural and Korgan Aitenov. Kostanay is located in the Northern part of Kazakhstan and has been hosting the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament in the recent 19 years.
Boxers who were born in 2001 or in 2002 are eligible to attend in the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament in Kostanay. The men’s event is holding in ten different weight categories: light flyweight (49kg), flyweight (52kg), bantamweight (56kg), lightweight (60kg), light welterweight (64kg), welterweight (69kg), middleweight (75kg), light heavyweight (81kg), heavyweight (91kg) and super heavyweight (+91kg).

Kazakhstan’s Pavlodar-based Makhmet Tolegenov won the first contest of the whole Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament with his amazing stamina after beating his teammate Ayzar Kayrolla by split decision. Chingiz Idrisov is a local boxer who had to meet with Tajikistan’s Murodjon Yakubov but he felt the support of the home crowd and eliminated his tough rival in Kostanay. The top sensation of this busy weight class was delivered by Kyrgyzstan’s Nurseyit Ashirmamatov who eliminated a gold medal contender Uzbekistan’s Jamshid Tukhtamurodov in the opening day.

The light welterweight (64kg) is also same busy category as the flyweight (52kg) in the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament in Kostanay with the participation of 16 boxers. Taraz-based Dinmukhamed Boranuly had to do his very best to bow out Tajikistan’s Shamser Saidov in a hectic contest. Another Kazakh boxer Dilshatbek Tayirzhanov also impressed in the third round which decided his bout against Russia’s Grigoriy Yesayan. Kyrgyzstan’s Muhammad Kamalidinov had enough international experiences to beat Kazakhstan’s Askhat Bolatov who arrived from the Almaty region to compete in Kostanay.

Strong Italian start in the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament
Italy sent a team from the European continent to the Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament to increase the experiences of their hopes before the start of the EUBC European Confederation Youth Boxing Championships. Their EUBC European Junior Champion Michele Baldassi controlled all of the rounds against Kazakhstan’s Nur-Sultan boxer Azamat Abdurakhmanov and advanced to the last eight at the flyweight (52kg). Italy’s second success was achieved by Constantin Ilas Remus who outpointed Kazakhstan’s Timur Serikuly at the light welterweight (64kg) on Day1.
