Strong Iranian team attends at the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships

Iran will attend in the upcoming ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships with a strong delegation in Amman. Mahdi Shafiei is the team manager of the Iranian delegation while Reza Mahdipour, Morteza Sepahvandi, Mohammad Mahdipour, Mehdi Tolouti and Hamidreza Pirouzpanah are the coaches of their youth and junior national team.

The Iranians earned their first Asian title at the 2021 ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships since the 2017 edition of the ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships. Iran claimed medals in all of the previous Asian events but the gold was missing from their collection since 2017. Iran achieved altogether ten podium places including one gold, two silver and seven bronze medals in Dubai. Their junior talents bagged one gold and two bronze medals in the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships.

The competition period of the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships will feature in Amman, Jordan between March 2 and March 15. A top ASBC boxing event returns to Jordan’s capital after nine years of break when Amman hosted the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in July 2013.

Altogether 51 female and male champions will earn their gold medals in the competition, 26 junior boxers and 25 youth athletes. Boxers who were born in 2004 and in 2005 will be eligible to attend in the ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships. The younger talents from the 2006 and 2007 age groups can compete in the junior part of the championships in Jordan.

Ali Asghar Afshari Abolkarlou achieved silver medal in the 2021 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships in Dubai and moved up from the bantamweight (54kg) up to the featherweight (57kg). The 18-year-old boxer is the best in their youth national team who is aiming for a title in the Jordan’s capital.

The 17-year-old Mohammad Parsi bagged bronze medal in the 2021 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships and he will make his debut at the light welterweight (63.5kg) in Amman. Milad Falahi Sivar and Alireza Mousavi competed already at the Kuwait City 2019 ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships and they could be Iran’s best junior weapons in the upcoming Amman edition.
