Six of the winners received the right to attend in Dubai after the Nepal Youth & Junior National Selection Tournament

Nepal Boxing Federation hosted its Youth & Junior National Selection Tournament in Lalitpur which was their first competition for these age groups in 2021. Six among the winners selected to attend in the forthcoming ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships which will be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Nepal was planning to send all of their best talents to the upcoming ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships but due to their financial issues, their management had to reduce the number of the participating boxers. Boxers who were born in 2005 and in 2006, were eligible to attend in the junior selection event, older athletes from the 2003 and 2004 age groups competed for the titles of the youth age group.

Nepal is a developing boxing nation with strong talents and the country reached a top result already in 2021, when one of their future female hopes advanced to the quarter-finals of the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships in Kielce. The South Asian country is planning to show their developments in more international competitions in the near future.

The first gold medal of the selection competition was achieved by Ramechhap’s Swastika Tiwari who defeated Binita Moktan in the junior final. Naxal Boxing Club’s Teji Maya Gurung won the first female youth final at the light flyweight (48kg) after beating Jhapa’s Anuska Kumal. Narika Rai of Jhapa was too smart for Elina Garbjua of Boxmandu in the final of the women’s youth featherweight (57kg).

Following Man Bahadur Hamal’s success at the junior flyweight (50kg), Chhiring Wangdi Sherpa of Boxmandu was too strong for Aryan Ghatraj of Ramechhap in the final of the bantamweight (54kg). Bhumik Thapa of Naxal Boxing Club also controlled his junior final over Lalitpur’s Bishal Shrestha and won the title of the featherweight (57kg).

Sulabh Mali trains with former Asian Games bronze medallist Deepak Maharjan and despite of his low number of bouts, he impressed at the youth bantamweight (54kg) in the national selection event. He has one year of experience in the sport but he proved strong performance in the National Selection Tournament. ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships competitor Raban Ali Khan and Indra Bahadur Sunar proved top performance in the youth level.
