Shiori Yotsumoto and Yuga Fujiki are the JOC Junior Olympic Cup winners in Japan

Shiori Yotsumoto and the ASBC Asian Junior Champion Yuga Fujiki were named as the Best Boxers at the 35th Japanese National High School Selection Tournament and the JOC Junior Olympic Boxing Cup Competition in Tamano City. The two promising boxers are the official JOC Junior Olympic Cup winners in Japan this year.   

The 17-year-old Shiori Yotsumoto claimed a bronze medal at the 2023 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships in Astana. The Miyazaki-based boxer was able to beat Meia Shintaku and Maria Mizukami easily in their bantamweight (54kg) bouts. She defeated her final opponent by RSC decision in the first round and she impressed in the entire competition with her strength and effectiveness.

Osaka’s brilliant Yuga Fujiki was not only ASBC Asian Junior Champion in 2023 but he is one of the best future talents in the whole world. He defeated Nara’s Akito Horie in a close contest in the semi-final stage of the National High School Selection Tournament.

The 17-year-old Fujiki dictated different tempo in the final of the lightweight (60kg) against Yoshihiro Matsuda and the referee stopped their contest in the second round. The decision makers named him as the Best Male Boxer of the national high school event.
