Shakhobiddinov, Tokhirov, Tojiyev and Tokhirov are semi-finalists at the Uzbekistan Youth National Cup

The seven-day long Uzbekistan Youth National Cup turned to its medal phase and their best 44 youth talents advanced to the semi-finals after the excellent quarter-finals. ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships medallists as Asrorbek Shakhobiddinov, Gofurjon Tokhirov, Azizbek Tojiyev and Nusratbek Tokhirov all advanced to the last four.

Nukus is the capital of Karakalpakstan and hosts the national event which is one of the selection competitions for the upcoming ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships. The continental event is scheduled to be held at the very first time for both genders and will be taking place in August 17-31.

Boxers who were born in 2003 and in 2004 are eligible to attend in the Uzbekistan Youth National Cup in Nukus. The national event holds in 11 different weight categories: 46kg, 49kg, 52kg, 56kg, 60kg, 64kg, 69kg, 75kg, 81kg, 91kg and +91kg. Uzbekistan Boxing Federation decided to add the pinweight (46kg) to the national event due to the high number of talents in that category.

Uzbekistan proved impressive performance in the Ulaanbaatar 2019 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships and also at the Kielce 2021 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships. Their new generation of talents are all well-experienced in the international stage, most of them had already more than 100-120 contests during their career.

Tashkent, Bukhara and Tashkent region represents the pinweight (46kg) in the semi-finals, Asilbek Jalilov, Sunnat Yokubov, Doniyor Bekmurodov and Azizbek Agabekov are all remained their chance alive to win the title. Yukov Prizes Youth Tournament winner Mukhammadkodir Mamirjonov will be facing with Namangan’s Mukhammadjon Kattaboyev in an exciting semi-final at the light flyweight (49kg).

Khorezm’s Ibrokhim Ishjonov moved up to the flyweight (52kg) and controlled all of his contests until the road of the semi-finals and used his height advantage against his rivals. The 18-year-old talent will be meeting with Dzhizak’s Mukhammadkodir Abdullayev in the last four while Surkhondarya’s Youth National Champion Khudjanazar Nortoziyev also joined to the last four in Nukus.

A local star, Yukov Prizes Youth Tournament gold medallist Madiyar Daniyarov is a new promising Uzbek talent who is favourite in his semi-final while his main rival ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships bronze medallist Asrorbek Shakhobiddinov also advanced to the last four from the bottom part of the bantamweight (56kg). Sukhrob Aminov will be boxing for the final of the lightweight (60kg) with Jakhongir Egamberdiyev which could be another anticipated fight.

ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships bronze medallist and Youth National Champion Gofurjon Tokhirov will be meeting with a local boxer Temirkhan Maksetbayev at the light welterweight (64kg). ASBC Asian Junior Champion Azizbek Tojiyev moved up to the middleweight (75kg) and will be boing with Samandar Jalolov in Nukus. Tashkent region’s Sarvar Sobirov lost to Sardor Rakhmonberdiyev in the semi-finals of the 2020 Youth National Championships and the two talents will be meeting once again. Andizhan’s ASBC Asian Junior Champion and Youth National Champion Nusratbek Tokhirov moved up to the heavyweight (91kg) and he is the favourite against Mirzajon Akhmedov. Tashkent’s Youth National Champion Ali Nuranov’s next opponent is Namangan’s Diyorbek Abdumutaliyev at the super heavyweight (+91kg).
