Seven Asian boxers won in the first day at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku

The boxing tournament of the Islamic Solidarity Games began in Baku, Azerbaijan where 113 boxers are attending for the medals in ten weight classes. In the first competition day the winners of the contests advanced to the quarter-finals of the Games and the Asian boxing nations proved great performance on Day1.
Uzbekistan’s National Championships bronze medallist Ulugbek Dusmuradov has done his debut in the World Series of Boxing this season and dominated his opening contest against a top boxer at the lightweight (60kg), Qatar’s Hakan Erseker who qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The final verdict was unanimous decision to the 24-year-old Uzbek boxer who advanced to the quarter-final of the Games.
Turkmenistan’s National Champion Hursand Imankuliyev was excellent against Jordan’s teenage talent Mohammad Adnan Abu Jajeh and secured his place in the last eight in Baku. Asia’s third triumph at the lightweight (60kg) was delivered by Iraq’s experienced Ammar Jabbar Hassan Karbalai who had to do his very best to beat a North African rival, Algeria’s Abdenacer Belarbi in Baku.
Pavlodar’s 21-year-old Kuan Kuatov is Kazakhstan’s new light welterweight (64kg) hope who claimed silver medal in the National Championships half year ago. The young talent attended in the Thailand International Invitational Tournament one month ago where he reached the quarter-final stage of the event. The young talent needed his best to beat Kyrgyzstan’s Daniyar Damirdin Uulu in the first preliminary round of the Games.
Jordan’s Rio 2016 Olympian and Incheon 2014 Asian Games bronze medallist Obada Al-Kasbeh was not able to qualify for the Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships but he amazed the crowd in the first round in Baku where he met with Pakistan’s Suleman Baloch and dominated his debuting contest.
Syria’s Manaf Asaad replaced Mohamed Mulayes at the super heavyweight (+91kg) this time but he was able to win his key first contest against Algeria’s No.1 Hamza Beguerni. Asia’s second triumph in this category was delivered by Iran’s Reza Moradkhani who had a narrow victory over Cameroon’s Arsene Fokou Fotso.
