Satzhanov, Babakhanov, Suyunbay and Amirov were the stars of the Kazakhstan Youth National Championships

The eleven finals have been held in the seventh competition day of the Kazakhstan Youth National Championships which finished in the city of Almaty. Elnur Suyunbay, Bauyrzhan Satzhanov, Sultan Babakhanov and Madi Amirov proved the best performances in the new edition of the Kazakhstan Youth National Championships.

All of the eleven categories from the pinweight (46kg) to the super heavyweight (+91kg) were in action in the seventh competition day at the Kazakhstan Youth National Championships. Besides to the ten official categories, the pinweight (46kg) has been added to the program of the Kazakhstan Youth National Championships as in the recent years.

Boxers who were born in 2003 and in 2004 were eligible to attend in the first Kazakh national event of the year. The event was preparation and selection before the main international goals of the year including the upcoming AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships which is scheduled to be held in Kielce, Poland on April 10-24.

Karap and Muratuly were the first winners of the Kazakhstan Youth National Championships

Following Ernar Karap’s success at the pinweight (46kg) over Ramazan Nurlybayev of Karagandy region, an exciting final was held at the light flyweight (49kg). Almaty region’s Kenzhe Muratuly eliminated Kyzyl-Orda region’s Bakbergen Tursynbai in the last four and he was still fresh enough in the final against Nur-Sultan’s Sanzhar Tashkenbay. Muratuly was too strong for his opponent and won the second title of the Kazakhstan Youth National Championships in Almaty.

Zhumabayev and Abdikarim won their finals by unanimous decisions

Shymkent’s Zhandos Zhumabayev competed in several junior competitions but he produced his best ever performance at the Youth National Championships in Almaty. Following his success over Pavlodar region’s Gabbas Dyusekenov, he won against Aktau region’s Emil Zhechev Junior Memorial Tournament silver medallist 17-year-old Bekzat Aldamzharov in the final of the flyweight (52kg). Turkestan region’s Abdygalym Abdikarim won the next title of the Kazakhstan Youth National Championships and he won also unanimously over Atyrau region’s Bekzat Konysbay at the bantamweight (56kg).

Suyunbay remained on the throne of the lightweight (60kg)

Dzhambul region’s Elnur Suyunbay was the titleholder of the lightweight (60kg) in the Kazakhstan Youth National Championships but he had ASBC medallists opponent to accomplish his goal. He had a tough battle against Karagandy region’s ASBC Asian Junior Champion Yerassyl Yermek but he managed to beat his one-year younger rival in Almaty. His final opponent was ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships silver medallist Ruslan Kuzeubayev and he had still the power to beat his big rival in the title contest.  

Satzhanov and Armanuly won the next finals in Almaty

East Kazakhstan region’s Bauyrzhan Satzhanov won international junior tournaments in 2018 first and proved strong developments in the Youth National Championships. The 17-year-old boxer walked over to the gold following his top rival, ASBC Asian Junior Champion Abzal Serik of Shymkent was unable to box against him in the final. Almaty’s first gold medal was achieved by Armat Armanuly at the welterweight (69kg) which he won over Nur-Sultan’s Bakbergen Aliaskarov in the final.  

Sultan Babakhanov and Madi Amirov were the stars of the middleweight (75kg) and the heavyweight (91kg)

Dzhambul region’s star Sultan Babakhanov is one of the biggest boxing hopes of Kazakhstan who remained unbeaten in 2019 and won the title of the Fujairah ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships. The 17-year-old top star moved up to the middleweight (75kg) and claimed his next title after beating Almaty’s Ilyar Ashirov in a fantastic final. Almaty’s second gold medal in the event was captured by Madi Amirov who dominated the heavyweight (91kg) final over Meiram Bolashak of Dzhambul region.
