Registration for Asian U22 Championships still open

The Asian Boxing Confederation (ASBC) is urging all national federations to enlist their boxers for the ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships 2023 slated in Bangkok, Thailand on January 16-27.

Registration for the second edition of the said tournament remains open until December 25.

Boxers born in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 are eligible to join the upcoming major competition where 25 champions will be crowned.

The next ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships will feature more weight categories: 13 for men (48kg, 51kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 63.5kg, 67kg, 71kg,75kg, 80kg, 86kg, 92kg and +92kg) and 12 for women (48kg, 50kg, 52kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg,63kg, 66kg, 70kg, 75kg, 81kg and +81kg).

The first-ever iteration of the ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships was successfully held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan last January wherein a total of 109 boxers from 12 countries participated.

With the upcoming Asian Games 2023 serving as a qualifier for the Paris Olympics 2024, the ASBC is expecting more nations to send their bets in Bangkok.

Thailand last hosted an ASBC tourney, the Asian Elite Boxing Championships, in 2019 and also served as the venue for the Asian Youth Championships in 2017 and 2018.

The most recent international event conducted in the Southeast Asian powerhouse was the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament in Phuket last April.
