Record number of 402 boxers competed at the Kazakhstan Junior National Championships

The Kazakhstan Junior National Championships was held in the city of Aktau, off the coast of the Caspian Sea where the number of the boxers was record number of 402.

Boxers from the Dzhambul region, the Turkistan region and Shymkent city earned two gold medals in Aktau. The remaining titles were shared between Astana city, and the regions of Akmola, Abay, Mangystau, Kyzyl-Orda, Almaty, Ulytau and Western Kazakhstan.

Boxers who were born in 2008 and in 2009, were eligible to participate in the Kazakhstan Junior National Championships.

The 44kg was an additional category to the official divisions and Abay’s Nurassyl Kayrgazy won the final following his split decision success over Zamankhan Amangeldi.

Thirty-two boxers competed at the pinweight (46kg), same number as at the 44kg, and Shymkent’s Beksultan Khuzhamzhar defeated the favourite Madiyar Askertayev in the final.

Dzhambul region’s Resul Seidish has strong family connections to our sport but he was defeated by Akmola region’s Bekarys Adilbay in the final of the light flyweight (48kg).

Dzhambul region’s Temirkhan Zholmakhan and the Karagandy region’s Begim Zhaksylyk were the main favourites for the title at the flyweight (50kg) and their final was one of the top ones in the Junior National Championships. Zholmakhan had the great finish and the stamina in the last round to beat his opponent by 3:2 split decision which was their fifth contest in the Junior Nationals.

Atyrau region’s Nurmukhammed Aldabergen eliminated three boxers by split decisions including the main favourite, Samir Akimgali, but he was not enough fresh for the title bout against Mangystau region’s Nurislam Nurbek, and finally he claimed only a silver medal at the light bantamweight (52kg).

Almaty region’s Daniyar Akbisenov dominated the bantamweight (54kg), before Akzhurek Kalabay (57kg) and Yerdaulet Shomekey (60kg) won their hectic finals over Rizat Tynyshtyk and Zhanarbek Khuanyshuly.

Astana’s Kenessary Marzhikpayev was the biggest name in the entire Junior National Championships, his father, elder brothers are all boxers and he continued the family pathway in Aktau. The 15-year-old light welterweight (63kg) boxer defeated Shymkent’s Gayrat Iristayev in the final and he proved that he is a strong junior hope for Kazakhstan in 2024.

Turkistan region’s Yerlan Darmankul stopped three out of his five opponents at the welterweight (66kg) and he earned his first huge achievement. Shymkent’s Daniyal Kaldikhan impressed all of the experts with his performance at the middleweight (75kg), dominating all of his five contests in Aktau.
