Rahmani, Naeemi and Amiri were the best boxers in the Afghanistan Men’s Elite National Championships

The Afghanistan Men’s Elite National Championships was a long competition in Kabul due to the high number of participants in the event. Ramish Rahmani, Mohammad Sultan Naeemi and Hussain Amiri were the best boxers in the national event, all of them proved strong developments in Kabul.

Kabul welcomed all of the best boxers of the provinces of the country in their Afghanistan Men’s Elite National Championships which is a selection event for them for the international tournaments. Afghanistan Boxing Federation arranged that selection event for the 2021 World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event.

All of the provinces had selection events before the Afghanistan National Championships and only the best boxers of the weight classes could attend in Kabul. Following the pre-selections, more than 280 elite boxers received the right to attend in the new edition of the Afghanistan National Championships which was held after the 2nd edition of the Shaheed Hameedullah Hameedi Memorial Tournament.

The President of the Afghanistan Boxing Federation Mr. Abdullah Sattari followed all of the bouts to check the developments of their elite boxers. The Secretary General of the Afghanistan Boxing Federation Mr. Waheedullah Hameedi is the engine of the National Championships and has done all necessary arrangements to realize the event in top level.

This is the first ever Afghanistan National Championships which is live streamed by the Afghanistan Boxing Federation from the opening competition day. All of the stakeholders and followers could watch the sessions and bouts in the official Facebook page of the Afghanistan Boxing Federation.

Afghanistan’s Ramish Rahmani won two contests at the Bangkok 2019 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships and reached the quarter-finals in Thailand. Following that, he claimed silver medal at the Indonesian President’s Cup therefore his gold medal at the flyweight (52kg) was an expected result. The 25-year-old boxer defeated Haji Ahmad Bawari in the final of the Afghanistan Men’s Elite National Championships.

Laisullah Azizi is another national team member who represented the country in several events in the recent three years. The 22-year-old boxer defeated Hasibullah Malikzada in the final of the featherweight (57kg) and remained his chance alive to compete for Afghanistan in 2021. Mohammad Sultan Naeemi competed at the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games and moved up to the lightweight (63kg) but the 20-year-old talent defeated all of his older rivals in Kabul.

Hussain Amiri also achieved same strong international results as Ramish Rahmani therefore he had a clear dominancy at the welterweight (69kg) in the National Championships. The middleweight (75kg) delivered a new champion, Suleiman Behzad who defeated Kelash Hotak in the final while Afghanistan’s most experienced veteran Mohammad Khaibar Nooristani achieved only bronze medal in Kabul.

Sehlab Noori has done excellent job in the final of the light heavyweight (81kg) and defeated national team member Faizullah Aryoubi who competed at the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event. Abdul Qader Haidari won the title of the heavyweight (91kg) and Saifullah Hadis Akbari became the last champion in Kabul.
