Phunsang, Ruamtham and Pidnuch demonstrated their excellent technical skills in the opening day at the Thailand Elite National Championships

Altogether 32 contests have been held in the opening day of the Thailand National Elite Boxing Championships in the Muak Lek District which is holding from their women and men boxers from November 16th until the 22nd. Among Thailand’s young hopes, Chiranchaya Phunsang, Sakda Ruamtham and Khunatip Pidnuch all won their opening contests by large margin of differences.

Altogether 213 bouts have been scheduled in the new edition of the Thailand Elite National Boxing Championships in Muak Lek. There are more than 16 boxers in almost all of the weight categories in the national event where some of the divisions are crowded with more than 25 participating athletes. Boxers who were born between 1980 and 2001 are eligible to attend in the Thailand Elite National Boxing Championships.

The women boxers can compete in five weight categories in the national event: at the light flyweight (48kg), at the flyweight (51kg), at the featherweight (57kg), at the lightweight (60kg) and at the welterweight (69kg). The male boxers are competing for the medals in six different weight classes in Muak Lek: light flyweight (49kg), flyweight (52kg), featherweight (57kg), lightweight (63kg), welterweight (69kg) and middleweight (75kg).

In the opening contest of the Thailand Elite National Boxing Championships Khanitha Nokchayee was too strong for Patcharaphon Saichan at the women’s flyweight (51kg) and the referee confirmed her RSC success. Apinya Batuwong was also in different level than Kamolthapi Aimsokul in the next fight in this weight category and her opponent’s ringside abandoned the unequal contest.

Thailand’s AIBA Women’s Junior World Boxing Championships bronze medallist and National Games winner Chiranchaya Phunsang also opened her campaign at the National Championships in Muak Lek. She controlled the first and second rounds against Satimi Aranuswang at the flyweight (51kg) and in the third she finished the bout winning it by RSC.  

Chuthamat Raksat claimed bronze medals at the 2014 and 2019 editions of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships and she is one of the best light flyweight (48kg) boxers in the globe. The 27-year-old woman boxer moved up to the flyweight (51kg) and dominated her opening contest against Kwanchari Kongwan.

Thanarat Saengpetch is a young talent at the light flyweight (49kg) who has done a successful debut against Karnadej Saengsena in Muak Lek winning the bout by unanimous decision. ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships silver medallist Sakda Ruamtham amazed in his opening bout against Sittichot Sonprasert and the 21-year-old talent proved strong developments at the lightweight (63kg).

Khunatip Pidnuch switched from Muay Thai to boxing only one and half year ago but since then he claimed gold at the Eindhoven Box Cup and silver in the Southeast Asian Games. The 20-year-old lightweight (63kg) boxer was confident in his opening bout against Ashyaduth Phanmua and advanced to the next round of boxing.
