Talented winners in the Philippine National Games Mindanao Qualifiers
The Philippine National Games will be helding on February 2016 and it will be a selection event before the AIBA Asian & Oceania Olympic Qualifiers. The qualification events to that national competition have begun in one of the most important region of the Philippines, in the island of Mindanao.
The Philippine National Games Mindanao Qualifiers was a big boxing tournament where besides to the elite boxers, youth and junior athletes also could take part in the event. The island of Mindanao is located in the Southern part of the huge country and its population is more than 22 Million present days.
Batang Pinoy Schoolboys National Games winner 15-year-old Mark Dave Apolinario of Sarangani proved the best performance in junior level who won the gold medal at the Light Flyweight class (48 kg) which is traditionally the best one in the Philippines. Another Batang Pinoy Schoolboys National Games winner Jhon Peter Patrick Cagumay (54 kg) of Labangan also claimed gold medal in the Philippine National Games Mindanao Qualifiers.
Philippine Youth National Games quarter-finalist Samuel Salva (49 kg) claimed the first gold medal in the youth part of the competition. Jayson Maama is AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships Dannel’s younger brother who could get the title at the Youth Flyweight class (52 kg) in the Mindanao event. Zamboanga City’s Batang Pinoy Schoolboys National Games bronze medallist Romer Dagoy was the third winner in the youth level. Sherwin Anthony Marcial came also a strong boxing family and won the gold medal at the Youth Lightweight class (60 kg) in the Philippine National Games Mindanao Qualifiers.
Philippine National Games bronze medallist Rey Tagulaylay won the gold medal in the key Light Flyweight class (49 kg) in the elite competition in Mindanao. Regel Lou Alde (52 kg) also has got experiences from big events and did not give any chance to his opponents in the Philippine National Games Mindanao Qualifiers. Mohammad Khader Banua (56 kg) and newcomer Julito Sumalinog (60 kg) also won their weight classes in the event while the last gold medal was achieved by Dennis Galvan (64 kg) who won the Southeast Asian Games in 2011 and took part in the 2012 AIBA Asian Olympic Qualifiers in Astana, Kazakhstan.
