New 13-year-old talents as Marzhikpayev, Kalmakhanbet and Amangeldy proved their strong skills in the Nursultan Nazarbayev Schoolboys Tournament

A boxing tournament was held in the city of Kostanay for the dedication of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Nursultan Nazarbayev. The country became independent from the Soviet Union 30 years ago and Mr. Nursultan Nazarbayev led the Central Asian nation into a new direction and built up Kazakhstan’s successes. Kenesary Marzhikpayev and Ardan Kalmakhanbet won their next competitions while Nurtas Amangeldy proved also his strength in the new event.

Boxers who were born in 2008 and in 2009 were eligible to attend in the Nursultan Nazarbayev Schoolboys Tournament in Kostanay. The city hosted an international event for the elite boxers to remember for the coaches of Kostanay a few weeks ago and their local association arranged a next competition.

Altogether 188 young 12-, and 13-year-old Kazakh talents attended in the Nursultan Nazarbayev Schoolboys Tournament. The number of the weight classes was 20 in the competition, boxers can attend from the 34kg up to the +80kg division in Kostanay. The 38kg was the most popular category with the participation of 22 boxers ahead of the 40kg where 20 talents competed for the medals.

The first gold medal of the whole event was taken by Dzhambul’s Rolan Makhmut who walked over to the gold against Yerassyl Maratov of Nur-Sultan. Almaty’s 13-year-old Elmurat Abdukakharov eliminated a local boxer, Kostanay’s Yerassyl Malikov in the semi-finals and walked over to the gold medal against Aydos Usenov who could not box in the final of the 36kg.

Mangystau’s Nurislam Nurbek had to win five contests to take the gold medal of the 38kg weight class but he managed to win all of these bouts including the final against Turkestan’s Sunkar Auten. Dzhambul’s Nurtas Amangeldy stopped three out of his four opponents before the final gong and he won also the title bout of the 40kg weight class against Kostanay’s Kirill Gurin by RSC. 

Aktobe’s Bekzhan Bekmuratov had also four victories in the competition but among them he won three by split decisions including the final against Atyrau’s Nurmukhamed Aldabergen which showed the 42kg weight category was one of the strongest divisions in Kostanay. Dzhambul’s Akzhurek Kalabay was the main favourite for the gold medal of the 44kg weight category and he outpointed all of his rivals such as Karagandy boxers as Ramazan Rustemuly and 12-year-old Amir Ramazan.

Nur-Sultan’s Edilmansur Oralkhan was in different level than all of his opponents and he was too smart also for Almaty’s Khamza Maksatuly in the final of the 46kg weight category. Almaty’s Daniel Shalkarbay was the only boxer from the 2009 born age group who could win the title in the Nursultan Nazarbayev Schoolboys Tournament. The 12-year-old boy was highly confident in all of his contests and defeated Aktobe’s Daniyar Agybay in the final of the 48kg weight class.

Mansur Tleuzhan of Karagandy was slightly better than Almaty’s Ramazan Yerzhan in the final of the 50kg weight category while Mangystau’s Miras Bekessov dominated the 52kg division beating Meirambek Bolatbek in the final. Kostanay’s first gold medal was achieved by 13-year-old Valeriy Asrannulov who had a strong success over Sultan Satbay of Kyzyl-Orda at the 54kg.

Kenesary Marzhikpayev came from a boxing family and he proved his strong genetics in his next event in Kostanay. The 13-year-old talent claimed bronze medal in his last schoolboy event which he changed into gold in the Nursultan Nazarbayev Tournament. He lives and trains in Nur-Sultan and his current skills were too strong for Aydar Zhussupov of Aktobe in the final of the 60kg weight category.

Akmola’s Ualikhan Zhumash impressed in the whole event and controlled his 63kg final over 12-year-old Dilzhan Sharafutdin. Dzhambul’s Ardan Kalmakhanbet is only 13-year-old but he is already experienced from several schoolboy tournament and he remained in the same 66kg weight category. Kalmakhanbet stopped Atyrau’s Islam Mambetov in the final whose ringside abandoned the unequal fight in Kostanay. Mangystau’s Bekarys Nariman and Kostanay’s Azamat Abdrashev won the heaviest weight categories in the event.
