Mr. Waheedullah Hameedi – The number of the boxers is increasing day by day in Afghanistan and we are planning to do an impact in Bangkok

President of the Afghanistan Boxing Federation Mr. Abdullah Sattari and their engine Mr. Waheedullah Hameedi are working hard to develop our sport in the South Asian country. Afghanistan has sent five boxers to the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships to Bangkok and returned to the international stages with better possibilities following their development.
“We began our preparation to the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships several months ago and we could build up a strong team this time and we are hoping to get medals in Bangkok. We were focused on new methods of boxing and already worked on new styles.
We have invited two boxers who were already in training camps in Russia and in the United Arab Emirates. We are planning to do big impact in this event and make new Afghan records in the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships. We would like to show our development
As I see this competition is a really strong ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships as most of the Asian countries are attending in Bangkok but we like the tough fights against strong opponents. We would like to show our youth stars in the Asian level in Bangkok therefore the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships means a lot for us.
The President of the Afghanistan Boxing Federation Mr. Abdullah Sattari and his team built up strategic plans and we are following our road step by step. We hosted an AIBA 1-star Coach Course in Kabul last November at the very first time. Relationships with the neighbouring countries and other nations also developed in the recent one year.
The number of the boxers is increasing day by day in Afghanistan, the total number of athletes could be approximately 32,000 in different levels and regions according our club surveys which we have done. We have got more than 100 boxing clubs only in Kabul and 10,000 boxers in the capital city.
We will be hosting our next National Championships soon and planned to take part with our elite team in preparation events including the Thailand Open Boxing Tournament. We are planning to send also big team to the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games,”
said Mr. Waheedullah Hameedi in the venue of the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships.
