– Mr. Serik Konakbayev, what was your opinion about the ASBC Executive Committee Meeting in Abu Dhabi? Are you satisfied with the negotiations with the members?
– The ASBC Executive Committee Meeting was a great success in Abu Dhabi and yes, I am satisfied with the discussions, negotiations and decisions. First of all I would like to say a big thank you for our ASBC EC Members who all attended in the important meeting which was a milestone for us in the beginning of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic era. We could all recognize it was a great success for the participants, and also for our kind hosts in the United Arab Emirates. Our EC member in the United Arab Emirates Mr. Anas Al Otaiba worked hard with their team to host the ASBC Executive Committee Meeting in the highest possible level.

– What are the key directives of the Asian Boxing Confederation in the upcoming years?
– Boxing is changing after the Rio 2016 Olympic Games where we could reach our best ever performance but to keep that level and raise the number of the Asian medals we have to work a lot until 2020. We will have an Asian Olympic Games in Tokyo and I believe our hard work will be paid off in the boxing tournament in Japan.

– What were the key decisions in the ASBC Executive Committee Meeting in Abu Dhabi which the members are approved?
– We discussed about 19 different topics in the ASBC EC Meeting. The members are approved our communication report, competition report, financial report, budget, 2017 ASBC competition calendar and the ASBC Championships for the next year after our bidding processes.

– Could you please let me know how many continental championships are you planning to host in Asia in 2017?
– We will be in the first year of the new Olympic era therefore we decided to give the chance for all of the age groups to compete in the continental level in 2017. We will have ASBC Asian Confederation Men’s Elite Boxing Championships, ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships, ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships, ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships and at the very first time ASBC Asian Confederation Schoolboys Boxing Championships.

– Which ASBC members will be hosting these ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in 2017?
– The affiliated ASBC national federations were very active in the bidding process and currently we decided four venues for our big events. Indonesia will be the host of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships for the men’s elite boxers in May. Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City can organize the ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships in October. We are planning to get top results in the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games therefore our ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships will be very important Thailand in July and also the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships in the Philippines in the beginning of August.
