Mr. Serik Konakbayev and the whole ASBC management wishes Happy Birthday to Russia’s two-time Olympic Games winner Mr. Oleg Saitov

The President of the Asian Boxing Confederation and Vice-President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Mr. Serik Konakbayev, furthermore the whole ASBC management wishes Happy Birthday to Russia’s two-time Olympic Champion and AIBA World Champion Mr. Oleg Saitov.
Mr. Oleg Saitov was born in Novokuybishevsk on May 26 in 1974 and secured his first national success in boxing at the age of 14. He became European Junior Champion and AIBA Junior World Champion in 1992 and quickly involved to the Russian elite team one year later in 1993 when he claimed bronze medal in the Tampere AIBA World Boxing Championships.
Saitov’s first career highlight came in 1996 when he defeated Juan Hernandez of Cuba in the final of the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games. The Russian boxer defended his throne in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games following his success at the Budapest 1997 AIBA World Boxing Championships. Saitov was focusing to his third Olympic success in 2004 to become a legend in boxing but he was defeated by Kazakhstan’s eventual winner Bakhtiyar Artayev in the semi-final of the Athens Olympics.
