Astana Arlans Kazakhstan advanced to the Finals of the World Series Boxing once again

Defending WSB Team Champion Astana Arlans Kazakhstan eliminated the British Lionhearts in the Semi-final stage of the Play-off and the strong franchise advanced to the WSB Finals where their next opponent will be Cuba Domadores once again. Astana Arlans Kazakhstan defeated the Season VI Finalist British Lionhearts 4-1 in Atyrau and won the Semi-finals on aggregate 7-3.

The three-time WSB Team Champion Astana Arlans Kazakhstan won the first away match 3-2 in Sheffield last weekend. In the second part of their WSB Semi-finals Serik Temirzhanov, Aslanbek Shymbergenov, debutant Bek Nurmaganbet and Kamshybek Kunkabayev won their contests in Atyrau.
Former Youth National Champion Saken Bibossynov started well against British Lionhearts’ William Cawley but he was not able to continue his strong performance until the end of the final gong and suffered a narrow loss to his English opponent. Serik Temirzhanov was gold medallist in the Pavlodar 2016 ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships and started also well against British Lionhearts’ unbeaten Calum French. The 20-year-old Kazakh boxer had serious difficulties in the middle of the bout but finally his hand was raised.
Aslanbek Shymbergenov dominated all of the rounds against British Lionhearts’ EUBC European Confederation U22 Boxing Championships silver medallist Carl Fail at the welterweight (69kg) and won the 12th WSB bout. AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships silver medallist Bek Nurmaganbet knocked down his Sweden opponent Liridon Nuha one time and dominated their fight. In the last bout of the WSB Semi-finals Kamshybek Kunkabayev was too strong for Solomon Dacres and has done a superb return to the World Series Boxing.
