Mr. Omar Al-Majali – We have amazing days here in Bangkok and proved Jordan’s strength

Jordan‘s boxing team impressed in the first four competition days in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships. Record number of six boxers advanced from Jordan to the quarter-finals and their team has got also guaranteed medallists as well. Regarding their amazing performance we asked their coaches Mr. Omar Al-Majali and Mr. Andriy Proskurnin in the venue of the competition.
“We had amazing preliminary days here in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Bangkok. We arrived to Bangkok with strong team and involved some young hopes to raise their experiences but we are satisfied with their performance.
We have a new Ukrainian coach Mr. Andriy Proskurnin who is still acclimatizing to our boxing environment but we are sure that his hard work will be paid off already in the AIBA World Boxing Championships this September.
We started the preparation to the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships seven months ago and managed our athletes in international training camps. Six of our boxers advanced to the quarter-finals which is one of our peak performances during our boxing history. Obada Al-Kasbeh and Hussein Iashaish are already medallists in Bangkok and we are so proud of them.
Our first ever AIBA medallist Bader Osama Samreen is still only 19 but we are planning to involve him to the elite team in the near future. Our light welterweight (64kg) is very strong in Jordan but we are trying to manage all of our boxers in the international stages.
We have approximately 600 active boxers in Jordan and besides to the elites our schoolboy and youth teams are also strong enough. We will have Youth and Schoolboys National Championships in June and Elite National Championships in July to select new hopes to the squads.
Following this event we will be using the upcoming Thailand Open Boxing Tournament as preparation for the AIBA World Boxing Championships,”
said Mr. Omar Al-Majali in the venue of the Bangkok ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships.
