Mr. Mohamed Moustahsane – The level of the Asian boxers is high and the smaller nations also proved significant development

AIBA Interim President Mr. Mohamed Moustahsane arrived to the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships yesterday and followed both days of the quarter-finals in Thailand’s capital. We asked the leader of the world’s main governing body to share us his experiences and first impressions regarding the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships.
“The venue and the whole environment of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships are fantastic. Thailand Boxing Association has the experiences to host major competitions as the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships.
Boxing is popular in Thailand, their boxers reached strong results also in the past not only nowadays. The Asian continent was always strong in our sport, their level is high in the current event as well.
We have many powerful countries in the Asian continent but all of the National Federations sent well-prepared teams to Bangkok. The developing nations of the Asian continent are moving ahead step by step and now they are more competitive than ever. Sometimes these developing nations are losing but hard to beat the bests as well.
We have arranged all of the requirements of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in the recent months and AIBA is moving ahead to change its image. All of our issues will be solved very soon and we are hoping the bests in relation with the IOC decision. To achieve our goals we need a unity within the whole AIBA Boxing Family.
The upcoming AIBA World Boxing Championships will be an open event this year in Russia and I believe that we can show our huge potential. We are thinking about to change the system and we are working on several developments for the bright future.
I was working as Technical Delegate at the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games and I saw many boxers with strong future potential. Personally I think that many of these talents will be qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
We will be using a new competition system in the African continent to educate their officials and give more chance to their boxers in the international level. We believe in our new strategy to lead the boxing world into its golden era,”
said AIBA Interim President Mr. Mohamed Moustahsane in the Huamark Indoor Stadium.
