Mongolia’s Gan-Erdene Gankhuyag amazed he local crowd in the Ulaanbaatar Box Cup

The Ulaanbaatar Box Cup continued with its second competition day in the Mongolian capital city where two sessions were held on Day2. Mongolia’s star Gan-Erdene Gankhuyag amazed the local crowd with his strong performance and advanced to the next stage of the Ulaanbaatar Box Cup.
The competition is holding in the currently three Olympic women’s weight classes at the flyweight (51kg), lightweight (60kg) and middleweight (75kg). Furthermore the men boxers will be able to box in seven weight categories from the light flyweight (49kg) up to the middleweight (75kg).
Mongolia’s ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships silver medallist and Rio 2016 Olympian Gan-Erdene Gankhuyag joined to the national team in 2010 at the age of 17 and proved his development is amazing. The Mongolian light flyweight (49kg) boxer, who qualified for the Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships, was too smart for Chinese Taipei’s FISU University World Boxing Championships silver medallist Tu Po Wei in the second competition day.
Indonesia’s Ferdinan Bertholens Kase won the gold medal in the last edition of their National Games and the light flyweight (49kg) boxer received the right to represent his country at the Ulaanbaatar Box Cup. The experienced Indonesian had wonderful stamina in the final round and defeated Mongolia’s National Championships silver medallist Ganselem Ariunbold in a hectic bout.
Mongolia’s Gandulam Mungun-Erdene joined to the national team in 2012 but after a few years of hiatus he returned to the squad in the recent months following his national title. The flyweight (52kg) boxer had to meet with Philippines’ young sensation Dannel Maamo and their contest was one of the best in the second competition day. The final verdict was split decision to Mungun-Erdene who defeated a qualified boxer in Ulaanbaatar.
DPR Korea’s Jo Hyo Nam robbed into the world of boxing this year with his silver medal at the Thailand International Invitational Tournament. The North Korean bantamweight (56kg) boxer eliminated Philippines’ Jorge Rey Edusma in his second appearance in Ulaanbaatar while Mongolia’s Rio 2016 Olympian Enkh-Amara Kharkhuu defeated Russia’s Chingiz Sharipov with top performance in the same category.
Indonesia’s Farrand Papendang competed in the last two editions of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Bangkok and in Tashkent therefore he had enough international experiences to beat China’s Bada Renggui in a close bout. The Southeast Asian Games bronze medallist Indonesian advanced to the next round of the lightweight (60kg) in the Ulaanbaatar Box Cup.
Mongolia’s Batzorig Otgonjargal had great youth career but in spite of his developments he is still waiting for his breakthrough among the elite athletes. The Mongolian welterweight (69kg) boxer had to face with Chinese Taipei’s AIBA Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualification Event quarter-finalist Pan Hung Ming who moved up one category. The young Mongolian felt the best distance from the first seconds and advanced to the next round in the Ulaanbaatar Box Cup.
Philippines’ woman talent Riza Pasuit involved to the national squad in 2015 but this was the very first time when she competed at the lightweight (60kg). The 24-year-old Filipino talent used her strength and speed to beat Indonesia’s Viska Defri Bambuta in the first round and continued her winning path against Mongolia’s Shinetsetseg Urantsetseg.
Chinese Taipei’s AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships bronze medallist and Rio 2016 Olympian Chen Nien Chin eliminated in the first round with another gold medal contender at the women’s middleweight (75kg), DPR Korea’s Pak Un Sim. Taiwan’s young national hero did even better performance in her second bout against Mongolia’s Myagmarjargal Munkhbat and she is now guaranteed medallist in the event.
