Strong Monkhor Namuun shines in the Mongolian Youth National Championships

The Mongolian Youth National Championships delivered new champions of the strong boxing country in the event which was held in the capital city. Ulaanbaatar hosted the event which was also a selection tournament for their men boxers for the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships.
Boxers who were born in 1998 and in 1999 were eligible to compete in the Mongolian Youth National Championships. Their older youth boxers almost all attended also in the Mongolian Elite National Championships in January where one of their female teenage talent became champion in that event as well.
Women boxers could compete in six weight classes in the Mongolian Youth National Championships: 48 kg, 51 kg, 54 kg, 57 kg, 60 kg and +60 kg. Altogether 59 women youth boxers competed in the six women categories in Ulaanbaatar.
Mongolia’s top woman talent AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships competitor and Bayan-Ulgii Cup winner 17-year-old Nurjamila Batyrbek of Red Bullz claimed the first gold medal in the women tournament where she won the Light Flyweight class (48 kg). Mongontsetseg Enhkjargal secured the second gold medal at the Olympic Flyweight class (51 kg) while Nyamsuren Erdenebat of Barsa also won her category in the Youth National Championships.
Monkhor Namuun is the biggest Mongolian woman talent who claimed gold medal at their Elite National Championships in January and defended her Youth throne at the Featherweight class (57 kg). Namuun could be the country’s next big woman athlete and she is a boxer who need to be watched in the next Olympic era.
Lkhagvadorj Angarag lost to Monkhor Namuun in the final of the Mongolian Women’s Elite National Championships therefore the 18-year-old talent decided to move up to the Lightweight class (60 kg) where she could beat all of her rivals including Rentsenlkhagva Otgonbayar in the final of the Youth Nationals. Karagandy Women’s Junior Tournament winner experienced Uyanga Zorigtbaatar of Red Bulls is member of the national team since 2013 therefore her success at the Women’s +60 kg weight class was not a surprise.
Men boxers attended in eight weight classes in the Mongolian Youth National Championships: 49 kg, 52 kg, 56 kg, 60 kg, 64 kg, 69 kg, 75 kg and +75 kg. The final number of men competitors was 141 from all of the region of Mongolia.
Tsedenkhuu Munkhbaatar proved top performance in the Flyweight class (52 kg) of the Mongolian Youth National Championships. Batkhuyag Suhhuyag lives in Bulgan and turned to 18 last month and he could celebrate that with a gold medal at the Light Welterweight class (64 kg) in Ulaanbaatar.
Elite National Championships quarter-finalist M. Gansukh defeated AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships competitor Tuguldur Byambatsogt in the semi-final of the Bantamweight class (56 kg) and following that success he could beat also ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships quarter-finalist Batchuluun Battulga for the gold medal of the Youth Nationals.
The Mongolian men talents will be taking part in the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan in the first week of May.
