Macado, Nicolson, Langu, Lin and Seesondee were the strongest boxers in the Kapolri Cup on Day4

The second edition of the Kapolri Cup continued with its fourth competition day in the city of Manado where 14 champions will be crowned after the day of the finals. Philippines’ Ramel Macado had a wonderful success against Malaysia’s Southeast Asian Games winner Muhammad Fuad Bin Mohamed Redzuan but Australia’s Skye Nicolson, Indonesia’s Cornelis Kwangu Langu, Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yu Ting and Thailand’s Sudaporn Seesondee also impressed on Day4 when 28 bouts were in the official program.
The Indonesians are preparing hard to the upcoming Asian Games which will be held in their capital city in Jakarta therefore their best hopes are near to their peak performance. The boxing tournament of the Asian Games will be starting on August 22 and the Indonesians are hoping to get at least one medal in our sport.
Altogether 70 women and 88 men boxers were there in the general weigh-in and after the drawing ceremony the first session has done in Manado. The women boxers can attend in six different weight classes from the light flyweight (48kg) up to the light welterweight (64kg). The men participants are fighting in eight categories from the pinweight (46kg) up to the middleweight (75kg).
Australia, Chinese Taipei, host Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam are attending in the second edition of the Kapolri Cup in Manado with women and men boxers as well.
Indonesia’s Endang is a well experienced woman boxer in spite of her young age who was able to beat her teammate Inri Makawimbang in the quarter-finals of the women’s light flyweight (48kg) in Manado City. Philippines’ former AIBA Women’s World Champion in this category Josie Gabuco returned to the world of boxing in top shape and stopped Indonesia’s Sinta Agustina in her second appearance in the Kapolri Cup.
Australia’s Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Taylah Robertson moved up to the bantamweight (54kg) in the recent weeks and did enough to beat Indonesia’s Adistia Oliana in her second contest at the quarter-finals in Manado City. The Aussie girl has been preparing to the upcoming AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships which will be held in November this year.
Chinese Taipei’s reigning ASBC Asian Women’s Champion Lin Yu Ting dominated her second fight as well in Manado City and the referee stopped her quarter-final against Indonesia’s Alfianita Kartinka Manopo. Japan’s new sensation at the same bantamweight (54kg) Mizuki Hiruta dominated the opening round against Indonesia’s Jakarta-based Novita Sinadia and she needed only four minutes to eliminate her rival.
Indonesia’s super talented woman boxer 19-year-old Huswatun Hasanah impressed in the fourth competition day and eliminated Singapore’s Samantha Quek Shing Wei in the quarter-final of the lightweight (60kg). Australia’s AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships bronze medallist and Commonwealth Games winner Skye Nicolson was too strong for Indonesia’s Viska Bambuta today.
Thailand’s AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Sudaporn Seesondee advanced to the semi-finals of the lightweight (60kg) following her success over Indonesia’s Gracia Kaihatu Imanuel. Another favourite at the women’s lightweight (60kg) Vietnam’s Asian Games bronze medallist Luu Thi Duyen had to do her very best against Philippines’ 19-year-old Carolyn Calungsod in Manado City to reach the last four.
Indonesia’s ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships quarter-finalist and former APB boxer Cornelis Kwangu Langu returned with a tough performance and defeated his teammate Mixel Sanjaya in the men’s light flyweight (49kg). Philippines’ new light flyweight (49kg) talent Ramel Macado shocked Malaysia’s Southeast Asian Games winner Muhammad Fuad Bin Mohamed Redzuan on Day4 and the young Filipino bowed out his top rival.
Indonesia’s most experienced man boxer Julio Bria returned also to the world of the ring and the 30-year-old veteran proved his strength on Day3 when he knocked out his rival. The Bali-based bantamweight (56kg) boxer, who claimed gold medal at the 2011 Southeast Asian Games, had even harder job against Michael Romroman but finally his hand was raised.
