Lebanon sends 3 boxers to Mediterranean Games

National champion Ali Hashem and two other boxers are set to banner Lebanon in the Mediterranean Games 2022 that rolls off on June 26 in Oran, Algeria.

Hashem will get his baptism of fire on the international stage as he competes against the top fighters of the region in the men’s middleweight (75kg) division.

Hassan Al-Zaino, a former bet in the ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships 2018, will show his wares in the welterweight (67kg) category.

Meanwhile, Lebanon will make a remarkable return to female boxing as national team newcomer Zeinab Khatoum joins the quadrennial multisport event.

A total of 161 pugilists from various countries including powerhouses Egypt, Italy, Turkey, Spain, Syria and France registered for the 19th iteration of the Mediterranean Games.

Egypt comes into the regional competition as the defending champion after winning three gold medals in the previous edition held last 2018 in Tarragona, Spain.
