Kyzaibay defeated her main rival Shekerbekova in the Kazakhstan Women’s National Spartakyad

The Kazakhstan Women’s National Spartakyad was held in South Kazakhstan’s important boxing city in Shymkent where 10 elite champions have been celebrated their titles after the finals. Kazakhstan’s two-time AIBA Women’s World Champion Nazym Kyzaibay defeated her main national rival Zhaina Shekerbekova in the final of the flyweight (51kg).
Shymkent hosted the 2013 ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships and many of the national competitions in Kazakhstan. Their National Spartakyad was the next selection event for the upcoming AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships which is scheduled to take place in Ulan-Ude, Russia this October.
Alua Balkybekova joined to the national elite team in 2017 and the 23-year-old hope regained her place at the light flyweight (48kg). She walked over AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships bronze medallist teenage hope Anel Kudaibergen who impressed in the Spartakyad but she was unable to fight in the final.
Nazym Kyzaibay was two-time AIBA Women’s World Champion at the light flyweight (48kg) but in the current Olympic era she has been attending at the flyweight (51kg). The 26-year-old boxer had to meet with her top national rival, AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships silver medallist Rio 2016 Olympian Zhaina Shekerbekova of Shymkent and her unpredictable footwork was impressed the crowd. The final verdict was unanimous decision to Kyzaibay who triumphed over her star rival’s homeland.
Astana 2016 AIBA Women’s World Champion Dina Zholaman had to meet in the final of the bantamweight (54kg) with her main national rival Shymkent’s Aida Tuyakbay but this time she was in different level. Aizhan Khodzhabekova claimed bronze medal at the Astana 2016 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships and moved back to her best featherweight (57kg) where she controlled her final against Nursultan’s Saniya Sultankyzy.
The lightweight (60kg) always delivers big fights in Kazakhstan where the rivalry between Rimma Volosenko and AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Karina Ibragimova are strong and hectic. Volosenko defeated Ibragimova in the final of the National Championships this year and she was able to repeat that performance once again in Shymkent securing her place in the top national team.
Milana Safronova attended in the last edition of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in New Delhi and following her surprise national gold medal in 2018, she was able to repeat their top performance in the Spartakyad. The 28-year-old boxer defeated Shymkent’s 2017 ASBC Asian Women’s Champion Madina Nurshayeva in the final of the light welterweight (64kg).
Rio 2016 Olympic Games bronze medallist strong Dariga Shakimova moved down to the welterweight (69kg) and had a tough battle against Almaty region’s future hope Bayan Akbayeva in the final of the Spartakyad. London 2012 Olympic Games bronze medallist Marina Volnova returned to our sport and she claimed a valuable bronze medal in Shymkent.
Akerke Bakhytzhan represented Team Kazakhstan in the last AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships and she was able to remain on the top of the national events. She defeated Guwahati 2017 AIBA Women’s Youth World Champion Araylym Begdilda 4:1 in the final of the middleweight (75kg). The main favourite of the Spartakyad AIBA Women’s Junior World Champion 19-year-old Nadezhda Ryabets achieved only bronze medal.
Fariza Shaltay is Kazakhstan’s best light heavyweight (81kg) boxer since 2017 who continued her winning series against Moldir Bazarbayeva. Dina Islambekova was AIBA Women’s Youth World Champion in 2018 and joined to the elite level this January. She was born in Uzbekistan but represents Kazakhstan and has done a sensation when she defeated Astana 2016 AIBA Women’s World Champion Lyazzat Kungeibayeva in the final.
