Kyrgyzstan’s schoolboys tournament hails new generation of champions

A total of 15 young fighters were crowned as champions in the 2nd Adylkan Bekbolotov Schoolboys Memorial Tournament that took place recently at the Kozhomkul Sports Palace in the Kyrgz capital city of Bishkek.

Alikhan Bilalov, a 13-year-old competitor, caught the keen eyes of the officials and was adjudged as the Best Boxer of the tournament among the 124 zealous aspirants after dominating the 37kg weight category.

This year’s edition featured all 14 official schoolboy weight classes along with the additional 33kg division and witnessed numerous exciting matches in a span of five days.

The tournament, which was held under the auspices of the Boxing Federation of Kyrgyzstan, was named after the country’s boxing icon and former national head coach Adylkan Bekbolotov.
