Kazakhstan’s magnificent eight prepared well to the AIBA World Boxing Championships

The AIBA World Boxing Championships will be one of the highlights of the year which will be holding in Yekaterinburg, Russia on September 7-22 and the Asian teams have been preparing to this global event with full speed. Team Kazakhstan and head coach Mr. Galymbek Kenzhebayev will be there in Russia with maximum number of eight boxers and all of their squad members are medal favourites there.
Kazakhstan claimed one gold medal in the last edition of the AIBA World Boxing Championships in Hamburg, Germany two years ago and their titleholder Kairat Yeraliyev will be attending in Yekaterinburg to defend his throne. Team Kazakhstan claimed two gold medals in the Bangkok 2019 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships and their squad members attended in high number of preparation events.
Kazakhstan’s new flyweight (52kg) boxer will be Saken Bibossynov who won the Bocskai Memorial Tournament and the Republic of Kazakhstan President’s Cup this year. Their featherweight (57kg) team member is the defending AIBA World Champion Kairat Yeraliyev who was not in top shape in the recent one and half year but he is waiting for the Yekaterinburg event after a strong preparation.
Veteran Zakir Safiullin is WSB Team Champion and two-time silver medallist from the ASBC Asian Boxing Championships who moved up to the lightweight (63kg) in the recent months since the Bangkok event. Rio 2016 Olympian Ablaikhan Zhussupov was Youth Olympic Games winner in 2014 and following his bronze at the Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships, he regained his place in the national team and waiting for the competition in top shape.
Tursynbai Kulakhmet won several international tournaments in the recent years before he claimed gold medal finally at the middleweight (75kg) in the Bangkok 2019 ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships. Kazakhstan’s light heavyweight (81kg) ASBC Asian Champion Bek Nurmaganbet has been replaced by another 21-year-old promising star Bekzat Nurdauletov who had amazing youth and junior results.
Vasiliy Levit is the most experienced team member from Kazakhstan who is three-time ASBC Asian Champion, silver medallist from the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and achieved bronze in the Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships as well. The experienced heavyweight (91kg) boxer is among the medal favourites once again in Yekaterinburg. Kazakhstan’s eighth team member is Kamshybek Kunkabayev who claimed silver in the Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships.
