Kazakhstan’s 18-year-old Shyngys Serikbayev won the Aksholakov Tournament in Aktobe

The traditional Aksholakov Tournament for the elite men athletes was held in the city of Aktobe which is located in the most Western part of Kazakhstan and strong boxers attended in the competition. The host nation achieved nine gold medals in the Aksholakov Tournament while Uzbekistan claimed one title in Aktobe.
The first gold medal of the Aksholakov Tournament was delivered by Kanagat Manatuly at the light flyweight (49kg) in Aktobe. The 20-year-old light flyweight (49kg) boxer dominated all of the rounds in the first final against Daniyar Serik and bagged his first ever tournament title during his career.
ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships competitor Sagyndyk Moldashev proved amazing performance as a youth boxer in 2012 and in 2013 and trying to raise his skills and results among the elite boxers. The 22-year-old flyweight (52kg) boxer defeated Uzbekistan’s Muzrabkhon Roziboyev in the semi-final and Aktobe’s Abay Kuandykov in the gold medal bout.
Uzbekistan’s ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships silver medallist 18-year-old Oybek Jurayev moved up to the bantamweight (56kg) in the recent weeks and attended in his first ever elite competition in Aktobe. The Uzbek teenage hope was too strong for Kazakhstan’s Astana-based Aydin Yelzhanov in the third final of the event.
Atyrau-based 18-year-old Shyngys Serikbayev is a promising hope in Kazakhstan but his gold medal was an unexpected title in Aktobe. The teenage hope defeated Kazakhstan’s former ASBC Asian Junior Champion Sabyrzhan Abilov in the semi-final and for the gold he was too strong for Uzbekistan’s Sardor Muzaffarov who claimed bronze medal in their National Championships a few weeks ago.
Kazakhstan’s Taraz-based 21-year-old Dulat Bekbaulov competed in several international events in Kyrgyzstan and also in Ukraine therefore his success at the light welterweight (64kg) over Aktobe’s Nurtas Ezhbenov was not a surprise. The welterweight (69kg) gold medal was achieved by 20-year-old Dinmukhamed Tilla who is a talented hope in the region and outpointed Astana’s Dair Zhailauov in the final while favourite Kanagat Maralov took only bronze medal in Aktobe.
Kuandyk Zhusip attended in the Tammer Tournament in Tampere, Finland in October and those experiences were enough to beat all of his rivals in Aktobe. The middleweight (75kg) boxer dominated his final fight against Aktobe’s Azamat Bakytov and won the seventh gold medal in the tournament.
Zhanibek Kartbayev was bronze medallist in the Khokhryakov Memorial Tournament in Kopeysk, Russia this year. Since then the Kazakh boxer moved up to the light heavyweight (81kg) and defeated a veteran rival in the final of the Aksholakov Tournament, Taraz-based 28-year-old Baurzhan Nurbayev.
Shokhr Boltekuly Memorial Tournament bronze medallist Yerzhan Seytimbetov of Aktobe reached his career highlight following his triumph over Batyrkhan Atshibayev in the final of the heavyweight (91kg). 22-year-old Saken Nagi competed already in the national events in Kazakhstan and the super heavyweight (+91kg) boxer was able to win the last final of the Aksholakov Tournament after defeating Astana’s Nazar Dzhanabdarov.
