Kazakhstan dominates Aitenov Brothers youth tilt

Host nation Kazakhstan seized 11 of the 13 gold medals in the 22nd Aitenov Brothers Youth Tournament that concluded over the weekend in the city of Kostanay.

ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships 2022 silver medalists Daulet Tulemisov and Sultanbek Aibaruly spearheaded the gold haul of the hometown heroes.

Tulemisov followed up his hard-earned 3-2 semifinal win over Uzbekistan’s Turarbek Khabibullayev with a 4-1 victory over another Uzbek bet Alisher Ayubov to clinch the middleweight (75kg) title.

Aibaruly decimated the reigning Asian youth middleweight champion Rakhmatullo Boymatov of Uzbekistan, 5-0, to reign supreme in the light heavyweight (80kg) division.

Bakhtiyar Anarbayev, an Asian junior champion in 2021 who moved up from featherweight (57kg) to lightweight (60kg) in this tournament, capped off his impressive run with a 3-2 decision over Kirill Globenko of Poland.

Beibarys Temirbayev stunned Uzbekistan’s defending Asian youth champ Fazliddin Erkinboyev via a second round stoppage in light middleweight (71kg) while Ruslan Shakhar shocked Asian silver winner and another Uzbek standout Javokhir Ummataliyev in welterweight (67kg).

Ramazan Nurlybayev (minimum-48kg), Zhasulan Tleumbek (fly-51kg), Zhanbolat Sarsenbayev (bantam-54kg), Ilya Kalinin (feather-57kg), Nurzhan Duman (heavy-92kg) and Yernur Absadykov (super heavy-+92kg) delivered the other gold medals for the host country.

Uzbekistan snared the other two golds courtesy of Sukhrob Aminov (light welter-63.5kg) and Abdulaziz Abdurakhmonov (cruiser-86kg).
