Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan secured three guaranteed medals in the amazing Asian day

Fifteen Asian boxers won their contests in the opening four competition days at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games but our continent’s bests were amazing on Day 5. Three of our boxers such as Uzbekistan’s Hasanboy Dusmatov and Rustam Tulaganov and Kazakhstan’s Vassiliy Levit are guaranteed medallist in the Games while the total number of Asian victories was nine in the fifth competition day.

Men’s Ligh Flyweight class (49 kg):
Uzbekistan’s ASBC Asian Champion Hasanboy Dusmatov and Kazakhstan’s AIBA World Champion Birzhan Zhakypov met each other firstly in 2013 and the two Asian stars had to box once again in the quarter-final stage of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The 23-year-old Uzbek boxer was enough fresh to took the lead after three minutes of fight in their top level bout. Dusmatov felt the rhythm, went closer to the taller Zhakypov and he was able to win their key contest which means the Uzbek boxer is now a guaranteed medallist. Kazakhstan’s veteran boxer competed in the last three editions of the Olympic Games and failed to get any medal in these events.

Men’s Bantamweight class (56 kg):
Japan’s super talented 20-year-old Arashi Morisaka qualified as second from his nation for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. After his teammate Daisuke Narimatsu’s loss he tried to keep Japan in the boxing tournament in Rio de Janeiro. Morisaka had clear punches in the opening round against Armenia’s EUBC European Confederation Boxing Championships bronze medallist Aram Avagyan and took the lead. After the first three minutes Morisaka was brave but his tactic did not work well enough and the Armenian boxer could advance to the last 16 of this weight class.
Thailand’s current ASBC Asian Champion Chatchai Butdee has got Olympic experiences from London and tried to keep the focus until the final bell against Great Britain’s Qais Ashfaq in his opening contest. Butdee felt the support of his little daughter during the whole bout which was not an easy one for the Thai veteran. Butdee knocked down his opponent in the second round which was one of the key moment of their contest today. Thailand’s pride defeated his European rival and advanced to the last 16 in Rio de Janeiro.
Mongolia’s 19-year-old Erdenebat Tsendbaatar is one of the main future hope of the strong country who achieved three national elite titles in spite of his age. The Mongolian talent had to meet with Kenya’s Commonwealth Games silver medallist veteran Benson Gicharu Njangiru who qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games from the APB/WSB Olympic Qualification Event. The Mongolian boxer was in different level than his African opponent and his effective punches delivered for him a place in the last 16.

Men’s Light Welterweight class (64 kg):
Mongolia’s AIBA Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualification Event silver medallist Baatarsukh Chinzorig had to meet with another Asian opponent, Qatar’s Thulasi Tharumalingam in the first preliminary round. The World Military Champion Mongolian was enough strong to keep the distance and his tactic worked well against his Qatari rival in Rio de Janeiro. Chinzorig was in different level than his Western Asian rival and advanced to the last 16.
China’s Hu Qianxun claimed bronze medal and won his important Box-off at the AIBA Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualification Event in Qian’an which was enough for him to qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The Chinese boxer walked over to the second preliminary round without any bout due Mexico’s WSB talent Raul Curiel was not able to get a successful daily medical check in the morning.
Uzbekistan’s AIBA World Boxing Championships silver medallist Fazliddin Gaibnazarov met with Congo’s Dival Forele Malonga Dzalamou who replaced Morocco’s Hamza El-Berbari in the last minute. The African reserve could not stop Gaibnazarov’s attacks in their unequal contest which delivered another success for Uzbekistan in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Gaibnazarov knocked down three-times his African opponent therefore the referee confirmed his TKO success in the evening session.
India’s former Commonwealth Games winner veteran Manoj Kumar had to meet with Lithuania’s London 2012 Olympic Games bronze medallist Evaldas Petrauskas in the first preliminary round of the category but he exceeded the previous expectations with his smart boxing. The 30-year-old AIBA World Boxing Championships quarter-finalist veteran had a well-built tactic against his European rival and his aggressive style delivered for him a great success and a place in the last 16.

Men’s Heavyweight class (91 kg):
Uzbekistan’s two-time AIBA World Boxing Championships quarter-finalist Rustam Tulaganov was not enough shape in the first round against Azerbaijan’s Baku 2015 European Games winner Abdulkadir Abdullayev but he tried to raise his rhythm. The Uzbek boxer was better in the second round and shared his power well enough in their top level contest which was a narrow one. Tulaganov boxed well in the last round which delivered for him a guaranteed medal in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. His next opponent will be Russia’s current AIBA World Champion Evgeny Tishchenko in the semi-final.
Kazakhstan’s WSB star Vassiliy Levit arrived to the venue of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games as a medal favourite and he was able to realize his goal in the competition. The 28-year-old boxer dominated his quarter-final bout against Mauritius’ All Africa Games winner APB talent Kennedy St. Pierre and advanced to the semi-final of the Games. Levit had great AOB and WSB successes but he reached his career highlight in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games with his guaranteed bronze medal.
