Jordan’s stars Hussein Eashaish Hussein Iashaish and Zeyad Eshaish have been tested Covid-19 positive

Jordan amazed in the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in Amman on home soil where their boxers achieved five quota places for the Tokyo Olympic Games. Their top boxers, brothers Zeyad Hussein Eshaish and Hussein Eshaish Hussein Iashaish are also qualified for the Olympics but in the recent days both have been tested Covid-19 positive.

Zeyad Eshaish was involved to the national team as a youth boxer in 2015 and after a few months of experiences in the elite squad, he received the right to attend in the Qualification Events for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games at the age of 18. Zeyad Eshaish turned to 20 when he claimed bronze medal at the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games which was his first strong career highlight as an elite boxer.

Zeyad Eshaish was quarter-finalist in the Bangkok 2019 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships last April and he reached also the Top8 in the Yekaterinburg 2019 AIBA World Boxing Championships in Russia. The promising boxer won the title of the welterweight (69kg) in the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in Amman this March following his Indian opponent, Vikas Krishan Yadav was unable to box against him in the final.

Hussein Eashaish Hussein Iashaish joined to the national team eight years ago when he attended at the Yerevan 2012 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships. He began his international participation at the super heavyweight (+91kg) and remained in the category until 2017. He claimed his first medal at the Bangkok 2015 ASBC Asian Men’s Elite Boxing Championships and qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games as first boxer from Jordan. Hussein Iashaish advanced to the quarter-finals of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and lost to only eventual winner Tony Yoka of France. He bagged bronze medal at the Tashkent 2017 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships and after that success he decided to move down to the heavyweight (91kg). Hussein Iashaish reached his third continental medal another bronze at the Bangkok 2019 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships. He qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games through the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event where he bagged his fourth bronze medal.
