Jordan bags 5 golds in Mustafa Hajrulahovic meet

Zeyad Eshaish and four other national standouts delivered gold medals for Jordan in the elite men’s division of the Mustafa Hajrulahovic Memorial Tournament held recently at the Hotel Hills Sarajevo Congress & Thermal Spa Resort in Bosnia & Herzegovina.

The Asian Games bronze medalist and Tokyo Olympian Eshaish proved too strong for Hungary’s Istvan Gerzsenyi as he punched his way to a unanimous decision for the light middleweight (71kg) title.

Another Olympic veteran in Odai Riyad Al-Hindawi scored a lopsided 3-0 victory over Montenegro’s Milorad Puric to reign supreme in the cruiserweight (86kg) division.

Yousef Ibrahim Iashaish (feather-57kg), Mohammad Adnan Abu Jajeh (light-60kg) and Hussein Eshaish (light heavy-80kg) were the other gold winners for the Western Asian country.

Jebril Mahdi Mohammad (bantam-54kg) and Abdulraheem Ahmad Suleiman Al-Taimat (heavy-92kg) took silvers while Yousef Huthaifa (fly-51kg), Zaid Al-Bitar (bantam-54kg) and Mohammad Suleiman Younis (cruiser-86kg) nabbed bronzes.
