Japan’s Reito Tsutsumi and many of the Asian stars advanced to the finals of the Bornemissza Youth & Junior Memorial Tournament

A long competition day was held in the 69th edition of the Bornemissza Youth & Junior Memorial Tournament in Eger, Hungary. The semi-finals of the junior and youth categories were in the official program on Day3 which delivered exciting battles between top boxers. Kazakhstan has got 12 finalists in the male youth part of the competition but Thailand, Japan and India also impressed.
Kazakhstan competed with superb success in the last edition of the Bornemissza Youth & Junior Memorial Tournament and their boxers returned to the traditional competition. India, Japan, Mongolia and Thailand also joined to the event this year which made the Bornemissza Youth & Junior Memorial Tournament even stronger than ever. The competition is holding in the historical city of Eger which is located near to the Hungarian capital and nearly 300 boxers from 22 nations are attending in the tournament.

A Japanese final will be held at the girl’s light flyweight (48kg)
Japan sent junior and youth boxers also to the Bornemissza Memorial Tournament to Hungary which is their preparation for the upcoming ASBC Asian Boxing Championships. Yuna Nishinaka attended only in national events in Japan previously and the Bornemissza Youth & Junior Memorial Tournament is her first international competition. She is a native talent in our sport and she worked strongly against Hungary’s EUBC European Confederation Junior Boxing Championships bronze medallist Laura Kovacs in the semi-final of the light flyweight (48kg). Nishinaka will be meeting for the gold medal with her teammate Himari Moriwaki who was slightly better than Hungary’s Lilla Szeleczki.

Five Indian juniors advanced to the final of the Bornemissza Memorial Tournament
India sent their top male junior boxers to the Bornemissza Memorial Tournament and five of them won their key contests in the third competition day. Soibam Yaiphaba Singh eliminated Spain’s Rafael Lozano Serrano at the junior pinweight (46kg) and continued his winning path against Slovakia’s Samuel Zupko in Eger. Yaiphaba Meitei Sanjaramba dominated his semi-final at the bantamweight (54kg) against Hungary’s Norbert Rezmuves. Rabichandra Singh Laishan is a key boxer who walked over to the final of the featherweight (57kg) following his Hungarian opponent Aron Szollosy was unable to box against him on Day3. Vanshaj eliminated Denmark’s Victor Hoveling on Day2 and continued his winning path against Hungary’s Zoltan Olah Vadasz at the lightweight (60kg). India’s fifth success was achieved by Abhimanyu Loura who eliminated United States’ Carl Garrison.

Nillada Meekoon and Banikon Maison advanced to the youth finals
Thailand’s AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships silver medallist Nillada Meekoon was the Best Boxer in the 2019 Golden Girl Boxing Championships and returned to Europe to compete against tough opponents. Meekoon moved up to the flyweight (51kg) and controlled her semi-final against France’s Jeyssa Marcel in Eger securing her place in the finals. Thailand’s second finalist in the women’s youth part of the Bornemissza Memorial Tournament will be Banikon Maison who used her reach well against Poland’s Viktoria Tereszczak at the welterweight (69kg). Surprisingly Youth Olympic Games winner Panpatchara Somnuek Youth Olympic Games silver medallist Porntip Buapa lost their semi-finals on Day3 and claimed only bronze medals in Eger.

Japan’s Shogo Tanaka and Reito Tsutsumi are in the male finals
Following the two junior Japanese girls Shogo Tanaka impressed in the semi-finals of the men’s youth light flyweight (49kg) in Eger. The 17-year-old Japanese boxer, who claimed gold medal at the Komsomolsk-na-Amure International Youth Tournament in Russia, kept his focus until the end of the final gong against Thailand’s Uthaida Pathipan and advanced to the final of the division. His star teammate ASBC Asian Junior Champion Reito Tsutsumi dominated his semi-final against Canada’s Justice Harborne which means he will be able to fight for the title of the men’s lightweight (60kg).

Kazakhstan’s best male youth boxers are attending in the Bornemissza Memorial Tournament which was a great success for them also in 2018. In the new edition many of their stars shined once again which means Kazakhstan has got 12 youth finalists in Eger. ASBC Asian Junior Champion Aitzhan Ashirkhan eliminated one of his main rivals Thailand’s Noppharat Thakhui and joined to the final of the lightweight (60kg). Darkhan Duisebay eliminated Hungary’s AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships silver medallist Adrian Orban while Margulan Aidaruly, ASBC Asian Junior Champion Yerassyl Zhakpekov and ASBC Asian Youth Champion Sagyndyk Togambay also won their fights by RSC.
