Japan’s Daiya Kira is the Best Male Boxer in the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships where Tajikistan achieved their first ever gold

The 13 male final contests were held in the seventh competition at the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates where the event finished with these amazing title bouts.

Japan’s Daiya Kira was named as the Best Male Boxer of the Tournament in Fujairah where Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan both achieved four gold medals. Abdurakhim Yokubov claimed Tajikistan’s first ever title in the history of the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships while India and China won the remaining male titles in Fujairah.

The number of the countries was record number of 26 in the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates where boxers who were born in 2003 or in 2004 are eligible to attend. The number of the boxers was also record breaking 239 altogether including 170 male and 69 female athletes in Fujairah.

India’s Vishvanath Suresh had a surprise gold at the male pinweight (46kg)
Philippines’ lone finalist in Fujairah, Eljay Pamisa defeated the main rivals in the road to the finals of the pinweight (46kg) in Fujairah. eliminated Kazakhstan’s Nurkhan Zhylkybay and Thailand’s Thanakon Aonyaem among the favourites while his final opponent India’s Vishvanath Singh had easier way to the gold medal bout. Both boxers were tired after the recent one week’s actions but gave in everything to take the title of the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships. The final verdict was split decision in the favour of the Indian boxer who won the first gold medal in Fujairah making a surprise in the smallest category.

India’s Bishwamitra Chongtham won the tough light flyweight (48kg) in Fujairah
India’s Bishwamitra Chongtham won four contests during his road to the finals at the light flyweight (48kg). The 16-year-old Indian had to meet for the title with Japan’s Yuga Ozaki who has done one of the biggest surprises of the sixth competition day when he eliminated Uzbekistan’s top favourite Asrorbek Shakhobiddinov. The Japanese boxer started the final better with nice hooks and worked hard in the opening two minutes to take the lead. The Indian boxer adopted the level of the bout and surprisingly he was able to take the title of the light flyweight (48kg).

Japan’s gold medal was achieved by their No.1 Daiya Kira in Fujairah
Japan’s Bornemissza Junior Memorial Tournament winner Daiya Kira advanced to the final of the flyweight (50kg) as expected. Japan’s new sensation tried to use his speed to control the bout from the first seconds against Kazakhstan’s Abdulla Patiyev who is also a technician boxer in the junior level. The Japanese boxer ruled the middle of the ring and pressurized his taller Kazakh opponent who used his longer reach in their final. The top favourite Kira impressed once again in their final and became ASBC Asian Junior Champion in Fujairah.

Kazakhstan’s Kuzeubayev and Yermek claimed gold medals in Fujairah
Kazakhstan’s first gold medal in the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships was achieved by Ruslan Kuzeubayev at the light bantamweight (52kg) following he was able to beat Tajikistan’s technician Abubakr Murodov in a hectic contest. Kazakhstan’s second title was taken by Yerassyl Yermek in the final day of the event at the featherweight (57kg) where he faced with Uzbekistan’s Bilolbek Ikhvolov. The Kazakh boxer felt the tempo slightly better than his Uzbek opponent and became champion at the age of 15.

Tajikistan’s history was written by Abdurakhim Yokubov
Tajikistan’s Abdurakhim Yokubov arrived from a boxing family and in spite of the fact that he is only 15, he competed international events already in 2016. The Tajik bantamweight (54kg) boxer controlled all of his fights during the road to the finals with excellent performance. Yokubov used his speed in the final against Kazakhstan’s Nursultan Altynbek who has a strong technique as well. Yokubov kept Altynbek long successfully and became Tajikistan’s first ever ASBC Asian Junior Champion writing history in Fujairah.

Kazakhstan’s Abzal Serik is the winner at the lightweight (60kg)
Uzbekistan’s Bekzod Bekmurodov eliminated Thailand’s Phanuwat Butchan in the semi-finals of the lightweight (60kg) but he had to meet with Kazakhstan’s Abzal Serik who dominated his semi-finals against India’s Vanshaj. Abzal Serik is one of the most experienced juniors in their national team who impressed in the whole tournament. Both boxers had amazing defence in their final contest which was one of the most tactical ones in the seventh competition day. The 16-year-old Kazakh was slightly experienced than his Uzbek opponent and won his title in this competition.

Uzbekistan’s Azizbek Tojiev dominated the final of the light welterweight (63kg)
Uzbekistan’s Azizbek Tojiev is one of their best boxers in the current junior age group who impressed in all of his international tournaments this year. The 16-year-old Uzbek light welterweight (63kg) boxer had a quick RSC success against Mongolia’s Elbeg Chuluuntogtokh in the semi-finals and looked fresh in the title bout when he met with India’s Yogesh Kagra. The 16-year-old Uzbek started the bout better than his Indian opponent and landed effective jabs in the first period of their final. Tojiev played with his Indian rival in the third round when he already enjoyed the final but kept the focus until the very end of the bout.

Kazakhstan’s Sultan Babakhanov is the star of the welterweight (66kg)
Kazakhstan has got excellent traditions at the welterweight (66kg) and their new junior in this category is Sultan Babakhanov who arrived to Fujairah with perfect yearly record. The 16-year-old Babakhanov is the best Kazakh junior boxer in their current team who defeated his main opponents by large margin of differences. The Kazakh boxer used his longer reach in in the final against India’s Jaydeep Rawat but he was extremely strong also from closer distance. Babakhanov was in different level than his Indian rival and deserved his gold medal in the city of Fujairah following his international tournament titles.

Uzbekistan’s No.1 Login Petrov realized his gold target in the event
Uzbekistan’s junior No.1 Login Petrov was named as the top favourite of the light middleweight (70kg) before the start of the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships. The Uzbek boxer’s father is his coach who has been working hard together to get top results in the international stages. Petrov eliminated Kazakhstan’s Rakhymzhan Shanzharkhan in the quarter-finals and continued his winning path against China’s Pan Xuanxuan in the last four. The experienced Uzbek used his longer hands against India’s Rahul but he attacked also well and his clear dominancy delivered for him a gold medal.

Uzbekistan’s Nusratbek Tokhirov realized his golden dreams at the middleweight (75kg)
Uzbekistan’s Nusratbek Tokhirov eliminated a top rival in the semi-finals, Kyrgyzstan’s Kabatay Mukash Uulu at the middleweight (75kg) on Day6. The Uzbek was motivated and fresh to dominate his final against China’s Pu Yang who bowed out South Korea’s Im Hyeon Guk in the last four. The 16-year-old Uzbek was confident in the first round and ruled the middle of the ring against the Chinese Junior National Games winner. Tokhirov was smaller than his Chinese opponent but he managed that tactical job and claimed the well-deserved gold in Fujairah.

Uzbekistan’s Jakhongir Zokirov won his final by RSC at the heavyweight (+80kg)
Uzbekistan’s strong favourite Jakhongir Zokirov arrived to the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships with perfect record and gold medals from international junior tournaments as the Heydar Aliyev and Botvinnik Memorials. The Uzbek heavyweight (+80kg) boxer is the son of Lazizbek Zokirov who competed in the Budapest 1997 AIBA World Boxing Championships. Zokirov eliminated his top rivals as India’s Vishal Gupta, Kazakhstan’s Roman Diar and Kyrgyzstan’s Argen Baktybekov during his road to the title. The 16-year-old Uzbek won the final by RSC following the second standings counts.
