Mr. Chaiwat Chotima is the General Secretary of the Thailand Boxing Association who has been following the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships in Bangkok from the opening. Thailand Boxing Association and their whole staff worked hard in the preparations of the event and also in the competition period to make a remarkable ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships.
Mr. Chaiwat Chotima is proud of Thailand’s development, their efforts to host more international competitions and lead the Southeast Asian boxing power to the success in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Mr. Chaiwat Chotima shared with us his thoughts about the event and their strategic plans.
“Personally I think we have got a great ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships in Bangkok. The feedbacks from the officials, from the teams and our guests are really positive which makes me proud of our performance. Hospitality, problem solving and friendliness were our key factors in the event.
We have got professional team who could arrange everything during the preparations to the competition. There were not any difficulties in the preparations to the event, everything went according to our plans in the recent weeks. We have got several national events every year and our team has got experiences in to host such a big event.
The 2018 edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships will be more than important for us and we will be bidding to that event as well to host it in Bangkok. The 2018 ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships will be the qualification event for the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games and our youth team could be even stronger next year.
We hosted the Thailand International Invitational Tournament in April which was a great success but we are planning to make it bigger in 2018. The official crowning ceremony of our new king will be held next year and we will be asking his Majesty’s approval to use our old tournament name the King’s Cup in 2018 as well. We are planning to host it in a new date due the occupancy of the boxing calendar in April. We are still discussing about the date to find the best option for every countries.
We will be travelling with our President Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira to the AIBA Executive Committee Meeting to Moscow after the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships where we are planning to bid for next year’s AIBA Congress, ”
