Sherzod-Tashmatov
Mr. Sherzod Tashmatov is proud of Uzbekistan’s boxing life
Mr. Sherzod Tashmatov is the Vice-President of the Uzbekistan Boxing Federation and he is following the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Bangkok, Thailand where we asked him about the current situation in Uzbekistan, how boxing developed in the country. We also asked him about Uzbekistan’s background and about their involvements to the World Series of Boxing.
“We have hosted the ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships in Tashkent where our boxers won the team rankings which was a great success of my country. Our Government is supporting the junior and youth boxing well in Uzbekistan therefore our financial background is safe. Currently 47 elite boxers are in the national team after the selections of the regions of Uzbekistan while the total number of athletes in all age groups is more than 20,000 in my country. Thanks for AIBA for the approval of our participation in the Season VI at the World Series of Boxing and I know our group stage opponents are strong but WSB means more experiences for our boxers and a new possibility to qualify to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. We are ready to host further future big events and we are planning a bid for the 2019 AIBA World Boxing Championships,” said Mr. Sherzod Tashmatov in the Thammasat University Gym 6.
